Published: January 2004

The origin of the right inferior phrenic artery (RIPA) was assessed in 216 patients using arterial-phase, contrast-enhanced multidetector row helical computed tomography (CT) and that of 26 patients was confirmed by angiography. One hundred and eighty patients showed the origin of the RIPA in aorta, the celiac artery, the right renal artery or the left gastric artery on CT. The sensitivity of CT was 92%. Multidetector row helical CT provides valuable anatomical information for angiographer.

Accuracy of the Hounsfield Unit Values Measured by Implant Planning Software.

Dent J (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Implantology, Kanagawa Dental University, Yokosuka 238-8580, Japan.

: The measurement of Hounsfield units (HU) during implant treatment planning is important. Currently, various manufacturers' implant planning software programs offer HU capabilities; however, their accuracy remains unverified. In this study, we aimed to validate the accuracy of HU values measured by implant planning software programs.

Multidetector-row computed tomographic angiography (angio-CT) aims to achieve optimal opacification of the vascular compartment of interest. The distribution and quality of vascular opacification are influenced by patient-related factors, contrast medium (CM)-related factors, and scanner-related factors. This systematic review evaluates these factors and their effects on contrast enhancement.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between clinical findings and the trabecular microstructure of the subchondral bone in patients with hip osteoarthritis (OA) due to developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) using multidetector row computed tomography (MDCT).

Design: A total of 63 patients (69 hips) with OA due to DDH were retrospectively reviewed, with 12 healthy controls being included for comparison. Clinical evaluation was performed using the Japanese Orthopaedic Association Hip Disease Evaluation Questionnaire (JHEQ).

Objective:  This study aimed to investigate whether the calculated predicted value of the estimated glomerular filtration rate from serum creatinine levels (eGFRcreat-PV) from multiple regression equations using the anteroposterior diameter of the renal sinus (APDRS) measured on multidetector row computed tomography (MDCT) axial images and easily obtainable chronic kidney disease (CKD) risk factors (age and body mass index, BMI) is useful for separating CKD stages.

Material And Methods:  The Review Board approved this study, and the additional approval requirement was waived for this retrospective study. We investigated the association between eGFRcreat and age, BMI, and APDRS using stepwise multivariate regression analysis in 98 patients who underwent MDCT and calculated eGFRcreat-PV from the obtained multiple regression equation.

Improvement of image quality of dentomaxillofacial region in ultra-high resolution computed tomography: A phantom study.

Dentomaxillofac Radiol

November 2024

Department of Clinical Radiology, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University, 3‑1‑1 Maidashi, Higashi‑ku, Fukuoka, 812‑8582, Japan.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the image quality of ultra-high-resolution computed tomography (U-HRCT) with that of conventional multi-detector row CT (convCT) and demonstrate its usefulness in the dentomaxillofacial region.

Methods: Phantoms were helically scanned with U-HRCT and convCT scanners using clinical protocols. In U-HRCT, phantoms were scanned in super-high-resolution (SHR) mode, and hybrid iterative reconstruction (HIR) and filtered-back projection (FBP) techniques were performed using a bone kernel (FC81).
