Background: This study was designed to determine the efficacy of a programme using frozen donor semen in a cohort of patients returning for treatment after previously conceiving through donor insemination (DI).

Methods: The cohort included 222 couples with secondary infertility (previous live birth) in one University Hospital Centre. The treatment sequence involved DI cycles until completion. Live births, drop-out for personal or medical reasons and recourse to IVF with donor semen (IVF-D) were recorded for all patients. Live births were expressed as both rate per cycle and crude cumulative rate.

Results: At the end of the DI cycles, 65% of couples in the cohort achieved second parenthood. Most of them (77%) succeeded after only four DI cycles. The majority of couples who stopped treatment did so for personal reasons.

Conclusions: Patients involved in a second parenthood project belong to a 'selected' population. Management and counselling of such patients need to reconcile the early efficacy of DI cycles, the invasiveness of the IVF-D procedure and the availability of donor semen.

Background: The possibility of future parenthood is a highly relevant issue for patients of reproductive age facing oncologic treatment. This study aimed to investigate how fatherhood was achieved in a patient cohort of adolescents and young adults (AYAs) banking semen at time of cancer diagnosis and to determine the effectiveness of cryopreservation aimed at fertility preservation in the cohort.

Materials And Methods: Observational cohort study examining AYAs with a cancer diagnosis who underwent semen banking for fertility preservation at Karolinska University Hospital 1988-2020, as part of the Stockholm regional fertility preservation program.

Forensic age estimation of stain donors through DNA methylation has been intensively studied in recent years. To date, there are many published age estimation tools which are based on technologies including pyrosequencing, minisequencing, or MPS. With the implementation of such tools into routine forensic casework in many laboratories worldwide, there is a need for thorough evaluation and performance comparison.

Background: Zika virus (ZIKV) primarily spreads through mosquito bites and can lead to microcephaly in infants and Guillain-Barre syndrome in adults. It is noteworthy that ZIKV can persist in the semen of infected males for extended periods and can be sexually transmitted. Infection with ZIKV has severe pathological manifestations on the testicular tissues of male mice, resulting in reduced sperm motility and fertility.

Background: Sperm capacitation is a prerequisite for natural or in vitro fertilization. After capacitation, sperm become hyperactivated and undergo an acrosome reaction, which helps them penetrate the oocyte. Cordycepin, a bioactive compound first isolated from Cordyceps militaris, is an adenosine analog with numerous physiological activities.

Background: Couples undergoing artificial insemination by donor semen(AID) represent a unique group of infertility patients, the relationship between fertility pressure and attachment styles remains unclear. To investigate the fertility pressure and attachment dimensions in artificial insemination by donor semen(AID) couples, and develop an Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM) for patient care.

Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study.
