Objective: To evaluate the expression of annexin II in human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and its relation with clinicopathological data.
Methods: The expression of annexin II mRNA and protein in paired cancer tissues and their adjacent quasi-normal tissues were detected by RT-PCR, immunohistochemical method and densitometric scanning. The relation between annexin II expression and the status of tumor differentiation was analyzed.
Results: The expression of annexin II was significantly lower in the tumor tissue than that in its paired normal counterpart both in mRNA and protein level (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The protein expression of annexin II was significantly lower in moderately and poorly differentiated tumors than those in well differentiated ones (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: Down-regulation of annexin II in esophageal carcinogenesis may play an important role in squamous cell differentiation.

Background: Acute lung injury (ALI), one of the most severe respiratory system diseases, is prevalent worldwide. Annexin A1 (AnxA1) is an important member of the annexin superfamily, known for its wide range of physiological functions. However, its potential protective effect against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI remains unclear.

Docetaxel (DTX) is widely utilized in breast cancer treatment. However, cancer cell resistance has limited its anti-tumor efficacy. Some molecules called microRNAs (miRNAs), acting like fine-tuned switches, can influence how breast cancer develops and spreads.

Adiponectin (ADN) regulates DNA synthesis, cell apoptosis and cell cycle to participate in the pathology and progression of glioblastoma. The present study aimed to further explore the effect of ADN on temozolomide (TMZ) resistance in glioblastoma and the underlying mechanism of action. Glioblastoma cell lines (U251 and U87-MG cells) were treated with ADN and TMZ at different concentrations; subsequently, 3.

Background: Most patients with prostate cancer inevitably progress to castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), at which stage chemotherapeutics like docetaxel become the first-line treatment. However, chemotherapy resistance typically develops after an initial period of therapeutic efficacy. Increasing evidence indicates that cancer stem cells confer chemotherapy resistance via exosomes.

Objectives: This study aims to assess the potential mechanism of rutin to treat triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) based on network pharmacology followed by experiments.
Methods: The potential rutin targets were predicted, and the DisGeNET database was used to obtain the disease targets. The intersection targets were identified with Venny 2.
