Setting: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Aim: To determine the extent of initial default in the NTP, the reasons for initial default, health seeking after initial default and treatment received at other health facilities.
Method: Questionnaire-based interviews of patients who were diagnosed with sputum-positive TB in the NTP during 2000 and who did not register for treatment in the NTP.
Results: The initial default rate was 8.3%; 79% gave reasons related to the NTP working procedures or treatment strategy, while 17.5% gave reasons related to insufficient knowledge among patients about TB and/or the need for treatment. Sixty-five per cent had been treated with anti-tuberculosis drugs at other health facilities after default, of which 74% had been treated at fully private facilities.
Conclusion: Initial default is mainly caused by some patients' negative perceptions of working procedures and/or treatment strategy in the NTP. The majority of these patients are treated in private clinics after default from the NTP. The NTP needs to improve patients' perceptions of the treatment strategy and develop more user-friendly services that enable more patients to access treatment and reduce the risk of patients receiving substandard treatment in the private sector.

Pesticide dislodgeable foliar residues (DFR) and their dissipation half-time (DT) after application are important parameters for exposure and risk assessment from intended reentry activities or unintended dermal contact with treated crops. To understand the impact of agronomic factors on residue level a statistical based evaluation was conducted using ten DFR studies, with pyrimethanil applied in Scala to strawberries, raspberries, peppers, apples, and grapes, 30 trials in total. Influences on initial DFR (DFR0) and DT were investigated by multivariate linear regression analysis.

Background: The NHS App launched in 2019 as the 'digital front door' to the National Health Service in England with core features including General Practitioner (GP) appointment booking, repeat prescriptions, patient access to records and, later on, COVID-19 vaccination certification. Similar patient portals have been adopted in different formats and with variable levels of success. In this longitudinal study (2021-2023) we examined how the NHS App became implemented in the pandemic context and beyond.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder influenced by both genetic and environmental factors, remains poorly understood regarding how its polygenic risk score (PRS) impacts functional networks and symptomology. This study capitalized on data from 11,430 children in the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study to explore the interplay between PRS, brain function, and behavioral problems, along with their interactive effects. The results showed that children with a higher PRS exhibited more severe attention deficits and rule-breaking problems, and experienced sleep disturbances, particularly in initiating and maintaining sleep.

Although creative ideas often emerge during distraction activities unrelated to the creative task, empirical research has yet to reveal the underlying neurocognitive mechanism. Using an incubation paradigm, we temporarily disengaged participants from the initial creative ideation task and required them to conduct two different distraction activities (moderately-demanding: 1-back working memory task, non-demanding: 0-back choice reaction time task), then returned them to the previous creative task. On the process of creative ideation, we calculated the representational dissimilarities between the two creative ideation phases before and after incubation period to estimate the neural representational change underlying successful incubation.

This prospective pilot study examined the association between microorganisms and knee osteoarthritis by identifying pathogens in the synovial membrane, synovial fluid, and blood samples from two patients with primary bilateral knee osteoarthritis, using metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS). Intraoperatively, during routine knee arthroplasty procedures, we collected the following 12 samples from each patient: two synovial membrane samples, two synovial fluid samples, and two venous blood samples. After DNA isolation and library construction, each sample was subjected to deep whole-genome sequencing using the DNBSEQT17 platform with the read length PE150 as the default.
