Case Report: A 34-year-old woman was diagnosed to have a high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and was treated by large loop excision of the transformation zone. Histology of the excised cone confirmed the diagnosis but also showed evidence of vasculitis of medium-sized vessels of the cervix. The woman was referred to a physician to rule out underlying systemic disease. Extensive laboratory and clinical screening was negative.

Discussion: The clinical significance and management of asymptomatic isolated vasculitis of the uterine cervix are discussed.

Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis Localized to the Uterine Cervix.

Hawaii J Health Soc Welf

March 2024

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, WA (SEL, KLL).

Article Synopsis
  • - Patients with gynecologic vasculitis need to be assessed for potential systemic diseases, as the treatment and prognosis can change significantly depending on whether the disease is localized or systemic.
  • - A case study features a 25-year-old woman who had abnormal cervical screening results and was found to have both cervical dysplasia and leukocytoclastic vasculitis during a colposcopy, alongside a past skin rash that might indicate systemic involvement.
  • - The occurrence of leukocytoclastic vasculitis in the uterine cervix may be linked to factors like hormonal contraception and infections (e.g., HPV), emphasizing the importance of monitoring any resulting cervical dysplasia for progression and proper treatment.

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of α-chymotrypsin on placental separation as a treatment protocol for retained placenta (RP) in dairy cows and its effect on reproductive performance after placental shedding. The study was conducted on 64 crossbred cows that suffered from retained placenta. Cows were divided into four equal groups: group I (n = 16) treated with prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α); group II (n = 16) treated with PGF2α in combination with α-chemotrypsin; group III (n = 16) treated with α-chemotrypsin only and group IV (n = 16) treated by manual removal of the RP.

Reproductive disorders caused by porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus-1 are not yet fully characterized. We report QuPath-based digital image analysis to count inflammatory cells in 141 routinely, and 35 CD163 immunohistochemically stained endometrial slides of vaccinated or unvaccinated pregnant gilts inoculated with a high or low virulent PRRSV-1 strain. To illustrate the superior statistical feasibility of the numerical data determined by digital cell counting, we defined the association between the number of these cells and endometrial, placental, and fetal features.

Intestinal Behçet's disease (BD) is a chronic, inflammatory illness that is often associated with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). When MDS is diagnosed, some patients with intestinal BD experience synchronous gastrointestinal flares.
