Fluctuation-related pain (FRP) affects more than one third of people with Parkinson's disease (PwP, PD) and has a harmful effect on health-related quality of life (HRQoL), but often remains under-reported by patients and neglected by clinicians. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends The Parkinson KinetiGraphTM (the PKGTM) for remote monitoring of motor symptoms. We investigated potential links between the PKGTM-obtained parameters and clinical rating scores for FRP in PwP in an exploratory, cross-sectional analysis of two prospective studies: "The Non-motor International Longitudinal, Real-Life Study in PD-NILS" and "An observational-based registry of baseline PKG™ in PD-PKGReg".

A working group convened by the Section of Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology of the Polish Neurological Society, the Polish Society of Family Medicine, and the Polish Society of Vaccinology has developed a consensus on supplementary data to the recommendations of the expert group of the Polish Society of Vaccinology, the Polish Society of Family Medicine, the Polish Dermatological Society, the Polish Association for the Study of Pain, and the Polish Neurological Society, and ECTRIMS/EAN of 2023 with regard to the currently available in Poland recombinant herpes zoster vaccine (RZV). It is intended for the prevention of herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia in individuals aged > 50 and individuals aged ≥ 18 who belong to herpes zoster risk groups. In Poland it is available with 50% reimbursement exclusively for patients aged 65 and older who have an increased risk of developing herpes zoster.

Regular use of standardized observational tools to assess nonverbal pain behaviors results in improved pain care for older adults with severe dementia. While frequent monitoring of pain behaviors in long-term care (LTC) is constrained by resource limitations, computer vision technology has the potential to mitigate these challenges. A computerized algorithm designed to assess pain behavior in older adults with and without dementia was recently developed and validated using video recordings.

In order to disentangle the effects of drugs from placebo responses, several approaches have been used, such as a placebo run-in phase in which only placebo nonresponders, or poor responders, are considered for further randomization to either placebo or active treatment. This study is aimed at investigating the variability of placebo nonresponders obtained through the classical placebo run-in paradigm (group RUN) and through mismatch conditioning (group MIS), as done in our previous study. To do this, we simulated a real clinical trial in the laboratory, in which the placebo responders of both groups were discarded and the remaining nonresponders of both groups RUN and MIS were randomized to either continuing on placebo (groups RUN-P and MIS-P, respectively) or receiving topical 0.

Background: Several health care networks have fully adopted second-generation supraglottic airway (SGA) i-gel. Real-world evidence of enhanced patient safety after such practice change is lacking. We hypothesized that the implementation of i-gel compared to the previous LMA®-Unique™ would be associated with a lower risk of airway-related safety events.
