Objective: To investigate the relationship between the expressive variety of apoptosis-related gene Bcl-2, Fas and the brain injury time during earlier period after cerebral contusion.
Methods: The morphologia feature of brain tissue was observed under microscopy and immunohistochemistry, image analyze technique was applied to detected the expression of Bcl-2 and Fas.
Results: Typical apoptotic cells were seen 8 hours after cerebral contusion. The expression of apoptosis-related gene was noted after 30 minutes and keep increase subsequently. The expression of Bcl-2 reached maximum level at 4 hours after brain trauma and then declined.
Conclusion: Detecting the expression of Bcl-2 and Fas would be of valuable in the distinguishment of promortem and postmortem injury, and the estimation of brain injury time during the earlier period after cerebral contusion.

Arsenic is a pervasive environmental pollutant that can bioaccumulate in Antarctic krill through the food chain, posing potential risks to human health. This study investigates the toxic effects of arsenic in Antarctic krill oil (AKO) on Caco-2 cells, focusing on oxidative stress and apoptosis induction. AKO is nutrient-rich and contains various arsenic species, including arsenite (As³⁺), arsenate (As⁵⁺), dimethyl arsinic acid (DMA), and arsenobetaine (AsB), each exhibiting different toxic potencies.

Purpose: Dry eye disease (DED) is a common ocular surface inflammatory disease with a complex pathogenesis. Herein, the role and effect of gasdermin E (GSDME) in DED pathogenesis were explored.
Methods: In vitro, flow cytometry, Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release assays were used to determine the effects of hyperosmotic stress on pyroptosis, apoptosis, and cell viability in human corneal epithelial cells (HCECs).

Fluoxetine is used in the management of depression, anxiety and other mood disorders by increasing serotonin levels in the brain and can cause sexual side effects by changing the homeostasis of sex hormones and increasing oxidative stress. Since many men who take fluoxetine are of reproductive age and sperm are exposed to fluoxetine for a considerable time, this study aimed to examine the in vitro effects of fluoxetine on human sperm biochemical markers and sperm parameters. Semen samples from 30 fertile men were divided into three groups: a positive control group, a negative control group and a fluoxetine-treated group.

Objectives: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an essential role in cancer biology. Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 (CIN3) is the most severe precancerous lesion of cervical cancer. However, the mechanism of multiple lncRNAs in CIN3 has not been studied in-depth and is worth exploring.
