A ferrocenyl anthracene derivative (FAN) was synthesized by connecting ferrocene moieties to the amino termini of its substitutents at 9 and 10 positions, aiming at an improved hybridization indicator. Spectrophotometric experiments revealed that FAN can bind to double stranded DNA (dsDNA) by threading intercalation. Evaluation of FAN in the dsDNA preference as hybridization indicator revealed that FAN has higher preference for dsDNA than ferrocenyl naphthalene diimdie (FND) reported previously.

We present the serendipitous discovery of an unusual dimer formed from anthracene-derived polyarenes. Unlike the typical oxidative coupling of substituted aromatic scaffolds, the reaction yielded a dearomatized enone dimer as the sole product. This dearomatized motif, notably, does not undergo the commonly observed rearomatization, and no biaryl products were detected.

Two dipicolylamine (DPA) derivatives with the pyrene and anthracene groups, 1-(pyren-1-yl)-N, N-bis-(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)benzylamine (L1) and 1-(anthracen-9-yl)-N, N-bis-(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)benzylamine (L2) were synthesized, characterized, and their affinitive properties for metal ions were studied. The mass spectroscopy and Job's plots showed that L1 and L2 reacted with Cu and formed complexes [Cu(L1)(solvent)] (L1-Cu) and [Cu(L2)(solvent)] (L2-Cu), respectively. Both L1 and L2 were fluorescent probes recognizing Cu via the emission quenching and further detecting HS via the emission revival.

Reductions in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) concentrations have been observed during frying. However, transformation mechanisms of PAHs remain unclear. We hypothesize that PAHs may be oxidized into oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (OPAHs) and other derivatives during frying.

Dopamine (DA) is an important catecholamine neurotransmitter and its abnormal concentration is closely related to diseases such as hypertension, Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia. Due to the advantages of high sensitivity and fast response for electrochemiluminescence (ECL), developing ECL sensors for detecting DA was very critical in clinical diagnosis. ECL resonance energy transfer (ECL-RET) was an effective signaling mechanism.

Aims: The aim of this study is the evaluation of an Azomethine derivative, BCS2, for its antioxidant and anti-tumor activities against mammary carcinoma through the Nrf2- Keap1-HO-1 pathway.
Background: The global prevalence of breast cancer is rising at an alarming rate. The facilitation of abnormal cell proliferation in mammary carcinoma occurs due to the disruption of signaling pathways that balance pro- and antioxidant status, thereby producing oxidative stress that disrupts genomic stability.
