In vitro cellular responses of osteoblast-like cells were studied on titanium surfaces with different surface morphologies. Surface profilometry was used to determine whether rough or smooth surfaces with regular or irregular morphologies can be produced by conventional fabrication techniques. Significantly higher levels of cellular attachment were found using rough, sandblasted surfaces with irregular morphologies. These results correlate with recent in vivo findings and suggest that implants should be prepared with roughened surfaces at bony contact areas.

Neurosignaling is increasingly recognized as a critical factor in cancer progression, where neuronal innervation of primary tumors contributes to the disease's advancement. This study focuses on segmenting individual axons within the prostate tumor microenvironment, which have been challenging to detect and analyze due to their irregular morphologies. We present a novel deep learning-based approach for the automated segmentation of axons, AxonFinder, leveraging a U-Net model with a ResNet-101 encoder, based on a multiplexed imaging approach.

This report investigates the preparation, characterization, and application of activated carbon derived from Spathodea campanulata flowers (SCAC) to remove Congo Red (CR) dye from aqueous streams. SCAC was synthesized using orthophosphoric acid activation which yielded a mesoporous material with a specific surface area of (986.41 m/g), significantly exceeding values reported for flower-derived activated carbons in the available literature.

Background: Fumarate hydratase-deficient renal cell carcinoma (FHRCC) is an aggressive carcinoma that typically presents as advanced-stage disease. Prompt recognition of FHRCC is critical for appropriate clinical care and genetic counseling for patients and family members. However, diagnosing FHRCC from cytology specimens is challenging, with limited characterization and no reports describing prospectively identified cases.

Objective: To study ferritin levels, and potential factors influencing them, in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and to investigate potential associations between ferritin levels and other parameters in these women.
Design: Longitudinal general population -based cohort study, including data from both questionnaires and clinical measurements.
Subjects: The study was conducted with data from the participants of the Women's Health Study, including a total of 1918 Finnish women, around 35 years of age.
