Isolated, perfused hearts are viable for hours outside the body, and important research findings have been made using mouse hearts ex vivo. In the Langendorff perfusion mode, the coronary tree is perfused via retrograde flow of a perfusate down the ascending aorta. Although the Langendorff setup is generally simpler and quicker to establish, the working heart mode allows the heart to function in a more physiologically relevant manner, where the perfusate is directed into the left ventricle via the left atrium.

Afferent vagal neurons convey gut-brain signals related to the mechanical and chemical sensing of nutrients, with the latter also mediated by gut hormones secreted from enteroendocrine cells. Cell bodies of these neurons are located in the nodose ganglia (NG), with the right NG playing a key role in metabolic regulation. Notably, glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP1R) neurons primarily innervate the muscle layer of the stomach, distant from glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1)-secreting gut cells.

Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) are a prevalent subtype of pancreatic cystic lesions, especially among individuals with liver cirrhosis. Intraductal papillary neoplasms of the bile duct (IPNBs) differ in histopathology based on the location and cellular variability in each location. Intrahepatic IPNBs are less aggressive than the extrahepatic variant, highlighting its heterogeneity and complexity.

A patient in their early 60s presented with a headache and right-sided numbness. Imaging revealed a hemorrhagic lesion in the left thalamus and venous engorgement involving the left sphenoparietal sinus, with drainage through the basal vein of Rosenthal and the superficial middle cerebral vein. The trans-Galen approach was utilized for embolization, successfully obliterating the fistulas using coils without retrograde opacification.

Introduction And Objectives: The Lifetech KONAR-MF ventricular septal defect occluder (MFO) is increasingly used for transcatheter perimembranous ventricular septal defect (pmVSD) closure. We aim to collect real-world data on patient outcomes and MFO performance in pmVSD cases.
Methods: This was a nonrandomized, retrospective, multicenter, postmarketing clinical follow-up study of pmVSD patients implanted with the MFO device between 2018 and 2023.
