Aim: To compare results of stenting in patients with and without prior coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
Methods: In 21 patients after CABG stents were implanted both in venous grafts and native vessels (secondary revascularization) and in 25 patients without history of CABG native vessels were stented (primary revascularization).
Results: Primary revascularization: there was 1 periprocedural non Q wave myocardial infarction (4%), angina disappeared in 88% and recurred in 1 year in 24% of patients; one year restenosis rate - 18.2%. Secondary revascularization: 1 periprocedural non Q wave (4.8%) and 1 Q wave (4.8%) myocardial infarction. Angina disappeared after stenting in 90.5% and recurred in 1 year in 19% of patients; one year restenosis rate - 17.6%.
Conclusion: Both primary and secondary revascularizations were highly effective. However secondary stenting was associated with more frequent acute complications.

Best cosmetic outcomes of breast reconstruction using tissue engineering techniques rely on the scaffold architecture and material, which are currently both to be determined. This study suggests an approach for a rational design of breast-shaped scaffold architecture, in which structural analysis is implemented to predict its stiffness and adjust it to that of the native tissue. This approach can help achieve the goal of optimal scaffold architecture for breast tissue engineering.

Background: The fluorescent dye indocyanine green (ICG) has been used to identify anatomical structures intraoperatively in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using ICG to assess graft patency and territorial distribution of myocardial reperfusion during CABG.
Methods: Porcine arrested hearts (n = 18) were used to evaluate territorial distribution of native coronary arteries and of a coronary bypass constructed with porcine saphenous vein graft (SVG) using ICG.

Atherosclerosis is accompanied by inflammation that underlies cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its vascular manifestations, including acute stroke, myocardial infarction, and peripheral artery disease, the leading causes of morbidity/mortality worldwide. The monolayer of endothelial cells formed on the luminal surface of arteries and veins regulates vascular tone and permeability, which supports vascular homeostasis. Endothelial dysfunction, the first step in the development of atherosclerosis, is caused by mechanical and biochemical factors that disrupt vascular homeostasis and induce inflammation.

Drug development for human disease relies on preclinical model systems such as human cell cultures and animal experiments before therapeutic treatments can ultimately be tested on humans in clinical studies. We here describe the generation of a novel human cell line (HLMVEC/SVTERT289) that we generated by transfection of microvascular endothelial cells from healthy donor lung tissue with the catalytic domain of telomerase and the SV40 large T/small t-antigen. These cells exhibited satisfactory growth characteristics and largely maintained their native characteristics, including morphology, cell surface marker expression, angiogenic potential and the protein composition of secreted extracellular vesicles.

Purpose: This pilot study evaluated and compared histomorphometric and immunohistochemical characteristics of peri-implant bone tissue after implant site preparation using piezoelectric tips versus conventional drills.
Material And Methods: Six patients with bilateral partial edentulism underwent a splitmouth protocol. Twelve alveolar ridges were randomized into six control implant sites prepared using conventional drills (Drill Group); and six test implant sites prepared using piezoelectric implant inserts (Piezo Group).
