A retrospective analysis was carried out of an 8-year survival in a series of 410 patients presenting with stage I-II breast cancer. Results are assessed of different combinations of a multiple-modality treatment involving surgical, chemotherapeutical, radiation, and hormonal methods. It is pointed out that adjuvant chemotherapy can make the results better. Other methods do not exert statistically significant effect on survival of patients.

Actinic keratoses (AK) usually occur on sun-exposed areas in elderly patients with Fitzpatrick I-II skin types. Dermatoscopy and ultrasonography are two non-invasive tools helpful in examining clinically suspicious lesions. This study presents the usefulness of image-processing algorithms in AK staging based on dermatoscopic and ultrasonographic images.

Background/objectives: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a multifactorial disease where the inflammatory state is crucial. This study analyzes the association of the IL-1RN (rs2234663) and IL-1β (rs1143627, rs16944) variants and IL-1β levels with CRC.
Methods: This study included 230 CRC patients and 256 controls.

PD-1 inhibitors are known to be effective in melanoma; however, a considerable proportion of patients fail to respond to therapy, necessitating the identification of predictive markers. We examined the predictive value of tumor cell HLA class I and II expression and immune cell infiltration in melanoma patients treated with PD-1 inhibitors. Pretreatment surgical samples from 40 stage IV melanoma patients were studied immunohistochemically for melanoma cell expression of HLA class I molecules (using four antibody clones with different specificities), HLA-II, and immune cell infiltration (using a panel of 10 markers).

Mast cell tumors (MCTs) are common skin neoplasms in dogs. Prognostic indicators include histologic grade, clinical stage, high Ki-67 index, elevated argyrophilic nucleolus organizer regions (AgNOR) index, mutations, and recurrence after surgery. Blood serum redox status has been shown to correlate with prognostic factors in canine lymphoma and mammary tumors.

Objective: To identify factors associated with the absence of cervical spine instability in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Methods: Cervical spine instability was defined as the presence of at least one of the following: atlantoaxial subluxation, vertical subluxation of the axis, or subaxial subluxation. In 2001-2002, 634 enrolled outpatients with "classical" or "definite" RA underwent a radiographic cervical spine checkup.
