Incomplete collisions in wavelength-division-multiplexed return-to-zero transmission systems are analyzed by asymptotic methods. Formulas for frequency and timing shifts are obtained. The results agree with direct numerical calculations.

Background: Train collision accidents are tragic events associated with high mortality. The study aimed to comprehensively describe the clinical-epidemiological profile, disaster emergency response, and management following a train collision accident in Odisha, India.

Methods: This observational study was conducted by a tertiary care hospital in eastern India.

Article Synopsis
  • Using alternating currents (AC) can effectively prevent the formation of mineral crystals on surfaces in contact with super-saturated fluids, such as heat exchangers and pipes.
  • The study demonstrates that periodic charging and discharging of the electrical double layer (EDL) on titanium sheets in super-saturated CaCO solutions inhibits both crystal nucleation and growth due to enhanced ion migration.
  • Operating at 4 V and frequencies between 0.1-10 Hz results in over 96% reduction in turbidity and over 92% reduction in calcium carbonate coverage, showcasing a promising method for controlling mineral scaling in various industrial applications.

Objectives: To develop and validate a simplified Bleeding Audit Triage Trauma (sBATT) score for use by lay persons, or in areas and environments where physiological monitoring equipment may be unavailable or inappropriate.

Design: The sBATT was derived from the original BATT, which included prehospital systolic blood pressure (SBP), heart rate, respiratory rate, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), age and trauma mechanism. Variables suitable for lay interpretation without monitoring equipment were included (age, level of consciousness, absence of radial pulse, tachycardia and trapped status).

Addis Ababa Institute of Technology, School of Civil Engineering, Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The management of road safety relies on data from road traffic crashes to identify priorities, monitor trends and evaluate interventions. Both police and hospital records are important sources of information on crashes that result in injury; however, both are known to be incomplete, with the quality and completeness of data being lower in low- and middle-income countries. The aim of this study is to estimate the magnitude of the underreporting of crashes in Dire Dawa City, Ethiopia, as a case study that may be applicable elsewhere.

Rationale: Flavonoid C-glycosides have a wide range of pharmacological activities. However, there are few mass spectrometric research on C,O-disaccharide flavonoid C-glycosides and di-C,O-saccharide flavonoid C-glycosides. Their low-energy collision-induced dissociation (ESI-CID-MS/MS) fragmentation pattern and differences have not been reported, and the fragment ion library is incomplete.
