Published: October 2003

A new p-terphenyl, named aurantiotinin A (1), together with ganbajunin C (2) and atromentin (3) were isolated from the fruiting bodies of the basidiomycete Thelephora aurantiotincta Corner. Their structures were established by spectral (MS, IR, UV, NMR, H-H COSY, HMQC, HMBC measurement) and chemical methods.

Taxonomy plays a central role in understanding the diversity of life, translating the products of biological exploration and discovery specimens and observations into systems of names that settle a "classification home" to taxa. The ectomycorrhizal basidiomycetes family Thelephoraceae has been understudied in subtropical ecosystems. Many species of Thelephoraceae are important edible and medicinal fungi, with substantial economic value.

Exploring Mitochondrial Heterogeneity and Evolutionary Dynamics in through Population Genomics.

State Key Laboratory for Conservation and Utilization of Bio-Resources in Yunnan, Yunnan University, Kunming 650032, China.

Limited exploration in fungal mitochondrial genetics has uncovered diverse inheritance modes. The mitochondrial genomes are inherited uniparentally in the majority of sexual eukaryotes, our discovery of persistent mitochondrial heterogeneity within the natural population of the basidiomycete fungus represents a significant advance in understanding mitochondrial inheritance and evolution in eukaryotes. Here, we present a comprehensive analysis by sequencing and assembling the complete mitogenomes of 40 samples exhibiting diverse heterogeneity patterns from various geographical origins.

Biogenic nanoparticle (NP), derived from plant sources, is gaining prominence as a viable, cost-effective, sustainable, and biocompatible alternative for mitigating the extensive environmental impact of arsenic on the interplay between plant-soil system. Herein, the impact of green synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) was assessed on Catharanthus roseus root system-associated enzymes and their possible impact on microbiome niches (rhizocompartments) and overall plant performance under arsenic (As) gradients. The application of ZnONPs at different concentrations successfully modified the arsenic uptake in various plant parts, with the root arsenic levels increasing 1.

Thelephora ganbajun exopolysaccharides (TGEP) with a "coral-like" branched chain structure (main chain diameter ∼ 80 nm) were prepared by liquid fermentation and fractionated by ion-exchange chromatography. The main fraction (TGEP-2) with the highest in vitro antioxidant capacity was composed of Glc, Man, Gal, GalA, GlcA, Ara, Rha, GlcN, Fuc and Rib in a molar ratio of 465.43:420.
