As a part of an investigation of natural antioxidants from Dalmatian aromatic plants, in this paper we report a study of the antioxidant activity related to the chemical composition of savory free volatile compounds. Twenty-one compounds were identified in the essential oil without fractionation, representing 97.4% of the total oil. The major compound was phenolic monoterpene thymol (45.2%). Other important compounds were monoterpenic hydrocarbons p-cymene (6.4%) a nd gamma-terpinene (5.9%)and oxygen-containing compounds carvacrol methyl ether (5.8%), thymol methyl ether (5.1%), carvacrol (5.3%), geraniol (5.0%) and borneol (3.9%). The evaluation of antioxidant power was performed in vitro by the beta-carotene bleaching and thiobarbituric acid (TBA) methods. As determined with both methods, the total savory essential oil as well as different fractions or pure constituents containing hydroxyl group exhibited relatively strong antioxidant effect. The hydrocarbons, when isolated as CH fraction, showed the poorest effectiveness in spite the fact that this fraction contained gamma-terpinene, alpha-terpinene, p-cymene and terpinolene which previously were identified as potential antioxidants.

Color centers are promising single-photon emitters owing to their operation at room temperature and high photostability. In particular, using nanodiamonds as a host material is of interest for sensing and metrology. Furthermore, being a solid-state system allows for incorporation to photonic systems to tune both the emission intensity and photoluminescence spectrum and therefore adapt the individual color center to desired properties.

Herein, we present a metal-free, concise, and efficient protocol for the intermolecular reaction of amides (lactams) with donor-acceptor α-diazo esters to afford the functionalized α-amino-α-aroylethanoates. -Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and ,-dimethylformamide (DMF) are employed as both reagents and solvents, allowing for the incorporation of all units into the products. The reaction is processed by the ester group migration and compatible with a broad range of substrates up to 50 examples.

Objectives: This study reviews literature on the psychiatric effects of delta-8-THC, particularly psychosis and severe mental health outcomes, to highlight the need for further research and regulation.
Background: Marijuana, the most widely used illicit drug in the United States, sees increasing use due to legalization. Although moderate use is generally safe, adverse effects can occur, especially in those with preexisting conditions.

Cells contain thousands of different lipids. Their rapid and redundant metabolism, dynamic movement, and many interactions with other biomolecules have justly earned lipids a reputation as a vexing class of molecules to understand. Further, as the cell's hydrophobic metabolites, lipids assemble into supramolecular structures─most commonly bilayers, or membranes─from which they carry out myriad biological functions.

The formation of non-ion conducting byproducts on zinc anode is notoriously detrimental to aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs). Herein, we successfully transform a representative detrimental byproduct, crystalline zinc hydroxide sulfate (ZHS) to fast-ion conducting solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) via amorphization and fluorination induced by suspending CaF nanoparticles in dilute sulfate electrolytes. Distinct from widely reported nonhomogeneous organic-inorganic hybrid SEIs that exhibit structural and chemical instability, the designed single-phase SEI is homogeneous, mechanically robust, and chemically stable.
