CT angiography is a diagnostic tool, which is rapidly becoming an important modality for non-invasive evaluation of the neurovasculature. The aim of this article is to review this method, including acquisition and image processing protocols and its application for the evaluation of atherosclerotic stenosis of the carotid artery. Illustrative cases are shown and a revision of the literature is also made.

Background: Abdominal aortic aneurysms and atheromatous plaques are well-established potential culprits in the development of cholesterol embolization. This embolic phenomenon can result in the occlusion of peripheral arteries in the forefoot or toes, commonly referred to as "trash foot".
Case: A 61-year old patient exhibited severe symptoms and signs of lower limb and mesenteric ischemia, represented clinically by abdominal pain, hematochezia, and bilateral plantar necrotic lesions, attributed to embolization from a previously unknown large infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Introduction: Psoriasis (PsO), a chronic inflammatory, multisystemic, and multifactorial disease can cause endothelial dysfunction, artery calcification, and atherosclerotic disease. A higher incidence of vascular occlusive events has been observed in psoriatic patients compared to healthy controls, and multiple studies confirm the association between moderate-severe PsO and atherosclerosis, coronary artery calcification, and higher cardiovascular risk.
Objective: We sought to analyze atherosclerotic disease prevalence in epiaortic vessels of psoriatic and non-psoriatic patients to understand if PsO could represent an independent risk factor predisposing to atherosclerotic disease.

Mycotic pseudoaneurysms of the superficial femoral artery (SFA) are rare and are usually secondary to colonization of an atherosclerotic plaque during an episode of bacteremia. We describe the case of a 68 year-old diabetic male who presented to the Emergency Department with pyrexia and a painful expanding mass in the left thigh. He had a history of diarrhea and had been treated 16 days earlier for an SFA pseudoaneurysm that had been excluded with a covered stent with no adjunctive antibiotic therapy.
