A case is reported of dental implant placement in a 13-year-old patient diagnosed with Papillon-Lefevre Syndrome. Two titanium dental implants were placed in the mandible for an implant-retained denture after the patient complained of having an unstable prosthesis. Follow-up radiographs showed successful osseointegration and preservation of alveolar bone 1 year after implant placement and the continual wearing of a functional dental prosthesis.
Introduction: Bone remodeling around implants in implant-supported rehabilitation is a continuous debate with no consensus in the literature. This study aimed to investigate the implant- and patient-specific factors contributing to marginal bone loss near the implant.
Materials And Methods: We included patients who had implant-supported prosthetic rehabilitation using one implant system, between 2014 and 2018, who had full follow-up documentation and orthopantomography over five years, and who had no unwell-controlled systemic pathologies that may influence bone metabolism.
Purpose: To study the correlation between the levels of inflammatory factors in gingival crevicular fluid and implant stability and prognosis after oral implant restoration.
Methods: A total of 78 patients who underwent oral implant restoration surgery from August 2022 to August 2023 were selected as the experimental group. According to the results of X-ray examination 1 month after implantation, the patients were divided into poor prognosis subgroup(n=33) and good prognosis subgroup(n=45), another 60 healthy subjects who underwent physical examination during the same period were selected as the control group.
Purpose: To analyze the effect of n-HA/chitosan/minocycline composite scaffold in the animal model of peri-implant inflammatory bone defect.
Methods: Twelve healthy adult male beagle dogs were selected to construct the model of peri-implant inflammatory bone defect. The control group(n=6) underwent bone regeneration by alveolar self-healing without any treatment in the bone defect area.
Biofilm-associated peri-implant infections pose a major problem in modern medicine. The understanding of biofilm development is hampered by biofilm complexity and the lack of robust clinical models. This study comprehensively characterized the dynamics of early biofilm formation in the transmucosal passage of implant abutments in 12 patients.
Aim: We aimed to investigate whether α-ketoglutarate (AKG) can promote autophagic activity under a peri-implant condition to enhance the osseointegration of dental implant in rats with osteoporosis (OP).
Methods: Con, Model and AKG groups were established for the random allocation of thirty rats ( = 10). Their bone metabolism indicators were measured.
