An exclusive measurement of the Coulomb breakup of 8B into 7Be+p at 254A MeV allowed the study of the angular correlations of the breakup particles. These correlations demonstrate clearly that E1 multipolarity dominates and that E2 multipolarity can be neglected. By using a simple single-particle model for 8B and treating the breakup in first-order perturbation theory, we extract a zero-energy S factor of S17(0)=18.6+/-1.2+/-1.0 eV b, where the first error is experimental and the second one reflects the theoretical uncertainty in the extrapolation.

Room temperature femtowatt sensitivity remains a sought-after attribute, even among commercial inorganic infrared (IR) photodetectors (PDs). While organic IR PDs are poised to emerge as a pivotal sensor technology in the forthcoming Fourth-Generation Industrial Era, their performance lags behind that of their inorganic counterparts. This discrepancy primarily stems from poor external quantum efficiencies (EQE), driven by inadequate exciton dissociation (high exciton binding energy) within organic IR materials, exacerbated by pronounced non-radiative recombination at narrow bandgaps.

When a molecule loses two electrons, Coulomb repulsion makes the resulting doubly charged system likely to fragment into two singly charged ions. These monocations can be detected in a correlated fashion using multiplex time-of-flight spectroscopy. The island shapes in the ion-ion coincidence maps derived from such two-body dissociations contain detailed information on the physical processes underlying the fragmentation.

Strong excitonic effects are common in organic conjugated polymer semiconductors, severely hindering the generation of free charge carriers for conducting photocatalysis. Therefore, exploring new channels to modulate exciton dissociation in polymers is far-reaching in facilitating photocatalysis. A series of B-N Lewis pair functionalized conjugated polymers have been developed to minimize exciton effects by modulating charge transfer pathways.

The application of solid-state electrolytes (SSEs) is anticipated to enhance the safety performance of lithium metal batteries (LMBs). However, the progress of SSEs has been hindered by the unstable electrode-electrolyte interfaces (EEIs). In this study, in-situ polymerization of 1,3-dioxolane (DOL) is employed for the preparation of SSEs, with the addition of tributyl borate (TBB) to establish stable EEIs, particularly under high-voltage conditions.
