The quality of the dental health service was studied, on the basis of an experts' evaluation of 570 outpatient's cards, in 3 central district hospitals of the Republic of Daghestan. The following was demonstrated: an inferior examination in a number of cases (35.0%), unfounded diagnosis (31.0%) and low treatment quality (37.5%) etc. The detected shortcomings in the organization and quality of the dental health service rendered to the rural population are indicative of an insufficient efficiency of the existing systems of the departmental and extra-departmental monitoring over the medical care quality. Recommendations for improving the dental health service rendered to the rural population were worked out on the basis of the study materials. They call for the need to carry out the urgent social-and-hygienic measures.
