Introduction And Importance: First described in 1990 in Japan, Stress cardiomyopathy (SC) is characterized by transient systolic and diastolic left ventricular (LV) dysfunction with a variety of wall-motion abnormalities. It predominantly affects postmenopausal women and is often preceded by an emotional or physical trigger. SC is an increasingly recognized form of transient LV dysfunction that is often completely reversible.

Radioiodine (RAI) is selectively recommended for intermediate-risk differentiated thyroid carcinomas (DTC). The information gleaned from pretherapy stimulated thyroglobulin levels (sTg) and diagnostic 131I whole-body scans (DxWBS) to guide therapy remains controversial. The present study aimed at evaluating the impact of preablation sTg and DxWBS in the management of intermediate-risk DTC.

Background: Brain death frequently induces hemodynamic instability and cardiac stunning. Impairments in cardiac performance are major contributors to hearts from otherwise eligible organ donors not being transplanted. Deficiencies in pituitary hormones (including thyroid-stimulating hormone) may contribute to hemodynamic instability, and replacement of thyroid hormone has been proposed as a means of improving stability and increasing hearts available for transplantation.

Radio-Iodide Treatment: From Molecular Aspects to the Clinical View.

Thyroid radio-iodide therapy (RAI) is one of the oldest known and used targeted therapies. In thyroid cancer, it has been used for more than eight decades and is still being used to improve thyroid tumor treatment to eliminate remnants after thyroid surgery, and tumor metastases. Knowledge at the molecular level of the genes/proteins involved in the process has led to improvements in therapy, both from the point of view of when, how much, and how to use the therapy according to tumor type.

Stress cardiomyopathy (SC) is a poorly recognized heart disease that was initially regarded as a benign condition. Recently, it has been shown that SC may be associated with severe clinical complications including death and that its prevalence is probably underestimated. The disease is characterized by transient systolic and diastolic left ventricular (LV) dysfunction with a variety of wall-motion abnormalities.
