Air pollution and systemic immune biomarkers in early life: a systematic review.

Environ Res

January 2025

Electronic address:

Introduction: Children's rapid development and immature immune systems place them at a higher risk of adverse health outcomes associated with air pollution exposure. However, the specific mechanisms in which air pollution mediates immune dysregulation in youth are poorly understood. Thus, we aimed to systematically review the available epidemiological evidence surrounding the effects of indoor and ambient air pollution exposure on systemic immune biomarkers in early life (from birth to 18 years old).

Introduction: With the increased use of CTs in cases with trimalleolar ankle fractures, bone fragments between the posterior malleolus and the rest of the articular surface tibial plafond surface - described as intercalary fragments (ICFs) - can be recognized. The aim of this study was to determine the ICF size threshold for a significant change in the pressure distribution at the ankle joint, having a considerable impact on the remaining cartilage of the joint.

Design And Methods: Eight human cadaveric lower legs were used, and a posterior malleolus Bartonicek II fracture was created with sequential 2mm, 4mm, 6mm and 8mm ICFs.

Comparison of Influence of Office and 24-h Central Aortic Blood Pressure on Target Organ Damage in Hypertension.

J Clin Hypertens (Greenwich)

January 2025

Department of Geriatrics, Medical Center on Aging of Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

The aim of this study was to explore whether 24-h ambulatory central (aortic) blood pressure (BP) has an advantage over office central aortic BP in screening for hypertension-mediated target organ damage (HMOD). A total of 714 inpatients with primary hypertension and the presence of several cardiovascular risk factors or complications involving clinical HMOD were enrolled. Twenty-four hour central aortic BP was measured by means of a noninvasive automated oscillometric device (Mobil-O-Graph).

Objectives: To evaluate the feasibility and surgical outcomes of simultaneous urethral reconstruction for synchronous urethral strictures (SUS) and analyze the surgical techniques employed for different stricture combinations.

Methods: Twenty-two male patients with SUS who underwent urethral reconstruction between February 2018 and July 2023 were retrospectively reviewed. Stricture locations and lengths were evaluated using cystoscopy and urethrography after urethral rest for at least 3 months.

Primary-lobe-based trilobed and quadrilobed flaps for reconstruction of nasal tip skin defects.

JPRAS Open

March 2025

Department of Plastic and Craniofacial Surgery, MITERA Hospital, Hellenic Healthcare Group (HHG), 6 Erithrou Stavrou str., 151 23 Maroussi, Attica, Greece.

Background: Despite a variety of principles proposed for drawing trilobed and quadrilobed flaps for the reconstruction of nasal skin defects, the application of these principles in a detailed and reliable way remains questionable.

Methods: We present a novel method for drawing trilobed and quadrilobed flaps to cover nasal tip skin defects. The method is based on the use of templates corresponding to four trilobed flaps with overall angles of 60°, 70°, 80°, and 90°, and two quadrilobed flaps with angles of 90° and 105°.
