Correlation between ligand-mediated silver species on TiO nanosheet with the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activities.

J Colloid Interface Sci

Metal oxide photocatalysts loaded with metal species are extremely important in photocatalysis. The physicochemical states of metal species, as well as the interaction between metal species and support, determine the transfer of charge carriers between the heterointerface, which has a significant impact on photocatalytic activity. Here, we prepared anatase TiO nanosheets (TIO) modified with different Ag species, including single atoms, clusters, and nanoparticles, using a ligand-mediated method.

The use of metal single atoms (SAs) as co-catalysts on semiconductors has emerged as a promising technology to enhance their photocatalytic hydrogen production performance. In this study, we describe the deposition of very low amounts of Pt SAs (<0.1 at%) on exfoliated graphitic carbon nitride (C3N4) by a direct Pt-deposition approach from highly dilute chloroplatinic acid precursors.

Visible Light-Driven Photocatalysis and Antibacterial Performance of a Cu-TiO Nanocomposite.

ACS Omega

November 2024

Postgraduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering, University of Caxias do Sul, 95070560 Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

A Cu-TiO nanomaterial with unique antibacterial and photocatalytic properties is introduced in this study. Cu-TiO nanocomposites were obtained using an adapted direct current magnetron sputtering apparatus, where TiO anatase nanoparticles (NPs) were used as the substrates and copper as the sputtering target. The obtained powder was characterized by physical and chemical methods.

One-Step Nanoimprinting of FeO/AgBr Thin Films for Dark-Light Active Antibiofilm and Bacterial-Free Cell Culture Surfaces.

Small Methods

November 2024

Department of Biological Sciences, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, Jawahar Nagar, Kapra Mandal, Medchal District, Hyderabad, Telangana, 500078, India.

The resuscitation of bacteria through biofilms presents a critical challenge in controlling microbial pathogenesis and addressing antimicrobial resistance. Continuous antibiofilm activity, particularly on frequently contacted surfaces, is therefore critical. In this study, a scalable is introduced, one-step fabrication of FeO/AgBr nanoimprints using a polymerizable sol-gel (PSG) approach to create functional nanostructured thin films with strong antimicrobial properties.

Electroless Ag nanoparticle deposition on TiO nanorod arrays, enhancing photocatalytic and antibacterial properties.

J Colloid Interface Sci

February 2025

School of Science, College of STEM, RMIT University, Melbourne, Victoria 3001, Australia. Electronic address:

Hypothesis: The small size of the nanoparticles used to obtain high surface area photocatalysts makes their removal from solution difficult. Producing photocatalysts on substrates would alleviate this limitation. Adding heterojunctions to photocatalysts, for example, TiO/Ag, could improve photocatalytic performance due to Schottky junction formation and introduce antibacterial properties.
