Structural analysis of dUTPase from Helicobacter pylori reveals unusual activity for dATP.

Int J Biol Macromol

December 2024

Structural Biology Laboratory, School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 110067, India. Electronic address:

Helicobacter pylori deoxyuridine triphosphate nucleotidohydrolase (HpdUTPase) is a key enzyme in the synthesis of the thymidine nucleotide pathway. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of dUTP to dUMP and releases pyrophosphate. This enzyme has been shown to be essential in several pathogenic organisms.

Microballistics in fungi and plants.

Curr Biol

October 2024

Western Program and Department of Biology, Miami University, Oxford, OH 45056, USA. Electronic address:

Ballistic movements in biology are powered by muscle contraction, explosive chemical reactions, the formation and collapse of gas bubbles, merger of fluid droplets, and release of hydrostatic pressure. At the macroscopic end of this kinetic carnival we find jumping fleas, violent spider jaws, shrimp claw hammers, and squirting beetles and cucumbers. The speeds are startling, but the mechanisms seem familiar because they occur on a spatial scale that overlaps with our physical experiences.

One of the fundamental goals of particle physics is to gain a microscopic understanding of the strong interaction. Electromagnetic form factors quantify the structure of hadrons in terms of charge and magnetization distributions. While the nucleon structure has been investigated extensively, data on hyperons are still scarce.

Observation on Switching Properties of WO-Based H Sensor Regulated by Temperature and Gas Concentration.

ACS Sens

October 2024

School of Physical Science and Technology, Lanzhou University, 222 South Tianshui Road, Lanzhou 730000, China.

Transition metal oxide semiconductors have great potential for use in H sensors, but in recent years, the strange phenomena about gas-sensitive performance associated with their special properties have been more widely discussed in research. In some cases, the resistance of transition metal oxide gas sensors will emerge with some changes contrary to their intrinsic semiconductor characteristics, especially in gas sensor research of WO. Based on the hydrothermal synthesis of WO, our work focuses on the abnormal change of tungsten oxide resistance to different gases at low temperature (80-200 °C) and high temperature (above 200 °C).

Production of hypernuclei from antiproton capture within a relativistic transport model.

Eur Phys J A Hadron Nucl

March 2024

CITENI, Campus Industrial de Ferrol, Universidade da Coruña, Ferrol, 15403 Spain.

Production yields of single-  hypernuclei from simulated peripheral annihilations of antiprotons after capture on various target nuclei are reported. The initial annihilation process and the production of excited hypernuclei are estimated within the GiBUU transport framework, while their deexcitation process is treated with the ABLA++ code. The yield of excited hypernuclei range from 0.
