Background: Estrogen receptors (ERs) have been detected in gastric carcinoma cells in vivo and in vitro. Several in vitro and in vivo studies examining the potential beneficial effects of adjuvant Tamoxifen (Tmx) have shown contradictory experimental and clinical results.
Materials And Methods: We examined the effects of a brief Tmx pretreatment on the chemosensitivity to 5-FU of two gastric carcinoma cell lines. One of these cell lines was ER(+) and the other ER(-). Tmx was administered for 24 hours before chemotherapy.
Results: We observed a significant increase in the cytotoxic action of 5-FU in both gastric carcinoma cell lines in the order of 100-155%. This increase in 5-FU cytotoxicity was not mediated by either the ER cell status or through TGF-beta 1 secretion.
Conclusion: Brief Tmx pretreatment increases the chemosensitivity of gastric carcinoma cells to 5-FU in vitro.

Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) encompass a diverse set of malignancies with limited precision therapy options. Recently, therapies targeting DLL3 have shown clinical efficacy in aggressive NENs, including small cell lung cancers and neuroendocrine prostate cancers. Given the continued development and expansion of DLL3-targeted therapies, we sought to characterize the expression of DLL3 and identify its clinical and molecular correlates across diverse neuroendocrine and non-neuroendocrine cancers.

Background: This study aimed to develop a dynamic survival prediction model utilizing conditional survival (CS) analysis and machine learning techniques for gastric neuroendocrine carcinomas (GNECs).
Patients And Methods: Data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (2004-2015) were analyzed and split into training and validation groups (7:3 ratio). CS profiles for patients with GNEC were examined in the full cohort.

This case report describes a rare case of bi-phenotypic gastric cancer with two distinct, but clonally related, histological components. The first component, associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection, exhibited the morphological features of gastric carcinoma with lymphoid stroma, suggesting that EBV, as an effective immunogenic factor, may trigger a prominent immune response within the tumour microenvironment. The second component, which was EBV-negative, displayed tubular/papillary morphology and features of increased biological aggressiveness, such as high-grade areas and lymphatic invasion.

Background: The diagnosis of gastric carcinoma (GC) is essential for improving clinical outcomes. However, the biomarkers currently used for GC screening are not ideal.
Aim: To explore the diagnostic implications of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) for GC.
