Introduction: This study aimed to compare the knowledge and skills of medical students in chronic pain assessment after being trained using the PQRST (P, provoke and palliate; Q, quality; R, region and radiation; S, severity; T, time) and ACT-UP (A, activity; C, coping; T, think; U, upset; P, people) mnemonics with those using only the PQRST mnemonic.
Methods: A double-blind, randomized controlled trial was conducted at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, including forty students who participated in a simulation-based chronic pain assessment workshop. Pre- and post-test scores were used to assess participants' knowledge.

The use of capnography is recommended during resuscitation. By implementing the mnemonic "PQRST", rescuers have a ready-made checklist to help them achieve the full potential of capnography. This approach can facilitate efforts to both reduce the hands-off time and individualize the treatment, which can lead to improved survival for our patients.

The PQRST questioning method is a mnemonic tool which enables the nurse to cover the essential elements of the description of a symptom, thereby facilitating the clinical assessment.

Clinical reasoning of the critical care nurse is enhanced by use of the "PQRST" Mnemonic in differentiating cues related to emerging patterns of chest pain. The subjective expression of chest pain can vary depending on one's cultural background. Nurses who become aware of their own cultural beliefs and values are more sensitive to the cultural influences in patients' responses.
