Patients who participated in an initial study in a hypertension outpatient clinic in a tertiary care hospital in Western Canada were approached three years later to participate in a follow-up study. The aim of this study was to describe changes, over three years, in office (OBP) and ambulatory blood pressure and blood pressure load (BPL) in a group of treated hypertensives, with and without white coat hypertension (WCH). In the initial study, 103 consecutive patients with OBP over 140/90 (either/both), despite being prescribed two or more antihypertensive drugs, were divided into groups based on average daytime ambulatory blood pressures (DABP). Sustained hypertension was defined as DABP > 140/90 (both) and WCH as DABP < 135/85 (both). All others were defined as borderline hypertension. In 1998, we repeated office and DABP readings in 79 of the original 103 patients. Daytime BPL decreased significantly over the three years of the study for those originally categorized as sustained hypertension [78 + 21 to 50 + 34 for systolic BPL (p = < 0.001) and 75 + 21 to 41 + 29 for diastolic BPL (p = < 0.001)]. Similarly, BPL fell in borderline hypertensives while BPL remained low, but increased somewhat, for WCH. OBP declined in all groups; thus, from a medical standpoint, this supports the argument that all those diagnosed with hypertension based on the OBP should remain on antihypertensive treatment. For nurses counselling patients with WCH, it provides a cautionary note that these patients, if already on antihypertensive medication, should probably continue treatment as WCH does not appear to be stable over time.

India's National COVID Vaccination Program recommended vaccination of children ages 6-12 years in April 2022. This study assessed vaccine acceptance among mothers to better understand potential barriers and facilitators of national acceptance of pediatric coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination. Qualitative data were collected through three focus group discussions (FGDs) with mothers who had children younger than 12 years of age; FGD-1 was composed of mothers who worked at a tertiary medical center in India, whereas FGD-2 and FGD-3 were composed of mothers who sought care at urban and rural community health centers.

The objectives of the study were to: 1) Describe characteristics and lifestyle factors of individuals who have achieved type 2 diabetes (T2D) remission (sub-diabetes glucose levels without glucose-lowering medications for ≥3 months) through changes to diet and exercise behaviour in real-world settings; 2) Investigate continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) profiles of these individuals and explore how dietary pattern may influence glucose regulation metrics. This cross-sectional study recruited individuals living with T2D who achieved remission via changes to diet or exercise behaviours. Various questionnaires were used to assess overall health and participants wore a blinded CGM for 14 days to assess glucose profiles and filled out three-day food records.

Background And Objectives: The most effective antiseizure medications (ASMs) for poststroke seizures (PSSs) remain unclear. We aimed to determine outcomes associated with ASMs in people with PSS.
Methods: We systematically searched electronic databases for studies on patients with PSS on ASMs.

Purpose: Over the past 15 years, the landscape of early phase clinical trials (EPCTs) has undergone a remarkable expansion in both quantity and intricacy. The proliferation of sites, trials, sponsors, and contract research organizations has surged exponentially, marking a significant shift in research conduct. However, EPCT operations suffer from numerous inefficiencies, such as cumbersome start-up processes, which are particularly critical when drug safety and the recommended phase II dose need to be established in a timely manner.

In recent decades there has been significant interest among policy makers in supporting entrepreneurship among university students, with the goal to improve labor market outcomes and contribute to the economy through venture creation. Drawing from the 2018 National Graduate Survey in Canada, our study examines who engages in entrepreneurial activity after graduation, investigating differences among demographic groups and between those who participated in entrepreneurship education on campus and those who did not participate. We find that those graduates who participated in entrepreneurship education are more likely to be self-employed and own their own business three years after graduating than the general population of university graduates.
