Functional association of immediate early gene c-fos with nuclear matrix.

Published: February 2003

Accumulation of c-fos gene locus DNA in the nuclear matrix of hepatocyte nuclei was observed during induction of c-fos with cycloheximide. No enhanced association with the nuclear matrix was detected for inactive immunoglobulin gene locus. The use of endogenous DNAses allows isolation of nuclear matrix preparations enriched with transcribing chromatin.

Nonadiabatic Quantum Dynamics of Molecules Scattering from Metal Surfaces.

Nonadiabatic coupling between electrons and molecular motion at metal surfaces leads to energy dissipation and dynamic steering effects during chemical surface dynamics. We present a theoretical approach to the scattering of molecules from metal surfaces that incorporates all nonadiabatic and quantum nuclear effects due to the coupling of the molecular degrees of freedom to the electrons in the metal. This is achieved with the hierarchical equations of motion (HEOM) approach, combined with a matrix product state representation in twin space.

Background: Cutaneous hypertrophic scar is a fibro-proliferative hard-curing disease. Recent studies have proved that antagonists of angiotensin II type 1 receptor (ATR) and agonists of type 2 receptor (ATR) were able to relieve hypertrophic scar. Therefore, establishing new methods to pursue dual-target lead compounds from Chinese herbs is in much demand for treating scar.

Optimized Interface Engineering Enhances Carrier and Phonon Scattering for Superior Thermoelectric Performance in Yb-Filled Skutterudites.

Thermoelectric (TE) performance in materials is often constrained by the strong coupling between carrier and phonon transport, necessitating trade-offs between electrical and thermal properties that limit improvements in the figure of merit (). Herein, a novel strategy is proposed to achieve simultaneous energy filtering and enhanced phonon scattering, effectively optimizing the TE properties of CoSb-based skutterudites. By introducing CuTe nanoprecipitates into the YbCoSb matrix, interfacial barriers are formed, which selectively filter low-energy charge carriers, significantly improving the Seebeck coefficient while maintaining high carrier mobility.

Purpose: Rose Bengal Photodynamic Therapy (RB-PDT) offers dual therapeutic benefits by enhancing corneal stiffness and providing antibacterial activity, presenting significant potential for patients with keratoconus complicated by keratitis. Our purpose was to assess the effect of rose bengal photodynamic therapy (RB-PDT) on the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, as well as on extracellular matrix (ECM)-related molecules, in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation of keratoconus human corneal fibroblasts (KC-HCFs). Additionally, the involvement of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathways which are downstream of the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) pathway were examined.

Nuclear morphology, which modulates chromatin architecture, plays a critical role in regulating gene expression and cell functions. While most research has focused on the direct effects of nuclear morphology on cell fate, its impact on the cell secretome and surrounding cells remains largely unexplored, yet is especially crucial for cell-based therapies. In this study, we fabricated implants with a micropillar topography using methacrylated poly(octamethylene citrate)/hydroxyapatite (mPOC/HA) composites to investigate how micropillar-induced nuclear deformation influences cell paracrine signaling for osteogenesis and cranial bone regeneration.
