Background: Sepsis, which is characterized by acute systemic inflammation and is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality, presents a significant challenge in health care. Some scholars have found that the sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) and quick SOFA scores are not ideal for predicting severe sepsis and mortality. Microbial culture takes a long time (2-3 d) and provides no information for early diagnosis and treatment.

Colony-stimulating factors (CSFs) are glycoproteins that stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells in the bone marrow. But numerous studies have shown that these factors can stimulate the proliferation of non-hematopoietic cells, including cancer cells. Hence, in this study, Macrophage-CSF (M-CSF), macrophage-granulocyte CSF (GM-CSF), and granulocyte-SCF (G-CSF) were evaluated in the serum of patients with breast tumors and their relationship with pathological and paraclinical parameters of the disease.

Background: Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is the causative agent of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) and porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is associated with postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) in pigs. Coinfection with highly pathogenic PRRSV (HP-PRRSV) and PCV2 in the field has recently become extensive in some Asian countries. A synergistic pathogenicity between PRRSV and PCV2 infections has previously been reported.

The molecular basis for regulation of dendritic cell (DC) development and homeostasis remains unclear. Signal regulatory protein α (SIRPα), an immunoglobulin superfamily protein that is predominantly expressed in DCs, mediates cell-cell signaling by interacting with CD47, another immunoglobulin superfamily protein. We now show that the number of CD11c(high) DCs (conventional DCs, or cDCs), in particular, that of CD8-CD4+ (CD4+) cDCs, is selectively reduced in secondary lymphoid tissues of mice expressing a mutant form of SIRPα that lacks the cytoplasmic region.

To determine whether intrinsic factors within RA pathogenesis itself may underlie RA's protective effect, we investigated the activity of colony-stimulating factors, upregulated in RA, on the pathology and behavior of transgenic AD mice.
