Background: Changes in cancer and end-of-life care require frequent assessment of educational needs of nurses.
Methods: The Nurse Oncology Education Program surveyed a random sample of Texas registered nurses about their continuing education practices, level of knowledge, and educational needs.
Results: The 352 nurses responding to the survey primarily obtained continuing education from workshops, inservice education, and independent studies citing cost, location, content, and length of course as influencing factors. Their cancer educational needs included clinical trials, genetics, complementary therapies, and pain management. Nurses' perceptions of end-of-life needs were for physical needs, "what to expect" concerns, and transition to palliative care.
Conclusion: These findings provide specific direction for future continuing education programs about cancer and end-of-life issues for nurses.

Background: Marathon training and running have many beneficial effects on human health and physical fitness; however, they also pose risks. To date, no comprehensive review regarding both the benefits and risks of marathon running on different organ systems has been published.
Main Body: The aim of this review was to provide a comprehensive review of the benefits and risks of marathon training and racing on different organ systems.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of preoperative prealbumin levels on long-term survival outcomes after gastrectomy in patients with gastric cancer (GC) dichotomized based on age.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included consecutive patients who underwent radical gastrectomy for primary stage I-III GC between May 2006 and March 2017. Patients were allocated to groups based on age (≥ 70 or < 70 years) and subgroups based on prealbumin levels (high, ≥ 22 mg/dL; moderate, 15-22 mg/dL; or low, < 15 mg/dL), and multivariate Cox regression was used for survival analyses.

Immunity suffers a function deficit during aging, and the incidence of cancer is increased in the elderly. However, most cancer models employ young mice, which are poorly representative of adult cancer patients. We have previously reported that Triple-Therapy (TT), involving antigen-presenting-cell activation by vinorelbine and generation of TCF1-stem-cell-like T cells (scTs) by cyclophosphamide significantly improved anti-PD-1 efficacy in anti-PD1-resistant models like Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL), due to T-cell-mediated tumor killing.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) typically reside in perivascular niches, but whether endothelial cells of blood vessels influence the stemness of cancer cells remains poorly understood. This study revealed that endothelial cell-specific GLTSCR1 deletion promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis and metastasis by increasing cancer cell stemness. Mechanistically, knocking down GLTSCR1 induces the transformation of endothelial cells into tip cells by regulating the expression of Neuropilin-1 (NRP1), thereby increasing the direct contact and interaction between endothelial cells and tumour cells.

Glioma is a common and destructive brain tumor, which is highly heterogeneous with poor prognosis. Developing diagnostic and prognostic markers to identify and treat glioma early would significantly improve the therapeutic outcomes. Here, we conducted RNA next-generation sequencing with 33 glioma samples and 15 normal brain samples.
