This paper discusses results of a supercritical fluid extraction-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (SFE-GC/MS) study of small samples ( 100 microg to 1 mg) of human scalp hair. The method offers a number of benefits including greater sensitivity than liquid extraction methods because the entire extractable mass is transferred to the analytical system, compared with only a few percent from a conventional liquid extraction/injection. The project's goals were to determine if SFE-GC/MS analyses of the surface-extractable components of an individual's hair yield consistent chemical profiles and to investigate if the profiles are sufficiently different to distinguish them from those of other individuals. In addition, the mtDNA sequences from ten of the same individuals used in the SFE-GC/MS study from four family units were determined, and, while the families were distinguishable, the maternal relations yielded identical sequences. In tandem, SFE-GC/MS and mtDNA techniques may provide valuable complementary data from forensic hair samples.

Supercritical-dense phase CO pipeline transportation has been proven to have excellent economic and safety benefits for long-distance CO transportation in large-scale. Hydrates are easily generated in the high-pressure and low-temperature sections, resulting in blockage, so it is necessary to build the prediction model for hydrate formation in the long-distance CO pipeline transportation. In the prediction model of hydrate formation of our work, the phase equilibrium was determined by the Chen-Guo model, and the lateral growth of hydrate was calculated by the comprehensive growth model, and the hydrate growth was estimated by analogy with the condensation process.

The simultaneous separation of the enantiomers of six anticoagulant rodenticides, derived from 4-hydroxycoumarin, has been studied in this work. Ten different stationary phases (zwitterionic, Pirkle-type, polysaccharides and macrocyclic antibiotics derivatives) were evaluated by using supercritical fluid chromatography coupled to two different detectors (circular dichroism and mass spectrometry-single quadrupole). The effect of the type of organic modifier and temperature on the chiral separation was investigated, and the best results were obtained with the column Regis S,S-Whelk-O1 at 25 °C when using a gradient elution program with methanol as organic modifier.

Invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells are unconventional T cells recognizing lipid antigens in a CD1d-restricted manner. Among these lipid antigens, α-galactosylceramide (α-GalCer), which was originally identified in marine sponges, is the most potent antigen. Although the presence of α-anomeric hexosylceramide and microbiota-derived branched α-GalCer is reported, antigenic α-GalCer has not been identified in mammals.
