According to the EU GCP-directive, all clinical trials involving medical products must adhere to the GCP-standards by May 2004. This may entail difficulties for investigator-initiated trials not sponsored by the industry. A public GCP-unit was established at Aarhus University Hospital in 1995. The unit offers researchers a monitoring system including discussion of the protocol, check of formalities, and verification of data and protocol compliance. As a contribution to the future work with GCP, experience from the GCP-unit at Aarhus University Hospital is presented here.

The recently discovered metagenomic urethanases UMG-SP1, UMG-SP2, and UMG-SP3 have emerged as promising tools to establish a bio-based recycling approach for polyurethane (PU) waste. These enzymes are capable of hydrolyzing urethane bonds in low molecular weight dicarbamates as well as in thermoplastic PU and the amide bond in polyamide employing a Ser-Ser -Lys triad for catalysis, similar to members of the amidase signature protein superfamily. Understanding the catalytic mechanism of these urethanases is crucial for enhancing their enzymatic activity and improving PU bio-recycling processes.

Chromothripsis, a hallmark of cancer, is characterized by extensive and localized DNA rearrangements involving one or a few chromosomes. However, its genome-wide frequency and characteristics in urothelial carcinoma (UC) remain largely unknown. Here, by analyzing single-regional and multi-regional whole-genome sequencing (WGS), we present the chromothripsis blueprint in 488 UC patients.

Unlabelled: In this article, we investigate a growing trend in the worldwide Quantum Technology (QT) education landscape, that of the development of master's programs, intended to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to take a job in the quantum industry, while serving a much shorter timeline than a doctoral degree. Through a global survey, we identified 86 master's programs, with substantial growth since 2021. Over time master's have become increasingly interdisciplinary, organised by multiple faculties or through joint degree programs, and offer more hands-on experiences such as internships in companies.

Background And Aims: Chronic fatigue is common in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The gut microbiota, specifically, microbial diversity and butyrate-producing bacteria have been linked to the fatigue pathogenesis. High-dose oral thiamine reduces fatigue, potentially through gut microbiota modification.
