Background: Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a prevalent vaginal condition among reproductive-age women, characterized by off-white, thin vaginal discharge with a fishy odor. It increases susceptibility to sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). BV involves a shift in vaginal microbiota, with reduced lactobacilli and increased anaerobic bacteria.

Stress significantly affects gastrointestinal and mental health, and the gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in this process. Enterococcus faecalis strain EC-12 (EC-12) is a lactic acid bacterium that has several health benefits. To investigate the impact of oral supplementation with heat-killed EC-12 on the discomfort caused by stress, a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted with students under academic stress taking EC-12 (n = 14) or a placebo (n = 13) daily for one week.

Lactic acidosis is one of the severe adverse reactions of linezolid. Its clinical manifestations are non-specific, primarily including abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, lethargy, rapid breathing, and tachycardia, with no reports of cardiac and respiratory arrest. In this case report, we present a 13-day-old male infant with omphalitis caused by methicillin-resistant (MRSA) infection, who was treated with linezolid.
