In two studies, a newly devised test (framed-line test) was used to examine the hypothesis that individuals engaging in Asian cultures are more capable of incorporating contextual information and those engaging in North American cultures are more capable of ignoring contextual information. On each trial, participants were presented with a square frame, within which was printed a vertical line. Participants were then shown another square frame of the same or different size and asked to draw a line that was identical to the first line in either absolute length (absolute task) or proportion to the height of the surrounding frame (relative task). The results supported the hypothesis: Whereas Japanese were more accurate in the relative task, Americans were more accurate in the absolute task. Moreover, when engaging in another culture, individuals tended to show the cognitive characteristic common in the host culture.

Environmental pollution has been a significant concern for the last few years. The leather industry significantly contributes to the economy but is one of Bangladesh's most prominent polluting industries. It is also responsible for several severe diseases such as cancer, lung diseases, and heart diseases of leather workers because they use bleaching agents and chemicals, and these have numerous adverse effects on human health.

Introduction: This study aimed to understand the origin and to explain the maintenance of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) isolated from food-producing animals in a third-generation cephalosporin (3GC)-free farm.
Methods: Culture and molecular approaches were used to test molecules other than 3GC such as antibiotics (tetracycline and oxytetracycline), antiparasitics (ivermectin, flumethrin, fenbendazol, and amitraz), heavy metal [arsenic, HNO, aluminum, HNO, cadmium (CdSO), zinc (ZnCl), copper (CuSO), iron (FeCl), and aluminum (AlSO)], and antioxidant (butylated hydroxytoluene) as sources of selective pressure. Whole-genome sequencing using short read (Illumina™) and long read (Nanopore™) technologies was performed on 34 genomes.

The differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) into neural progenitor cells (NPCs) is a promising approach for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and regenerative medicine. Dual-SMAD inhibition using small molecules has been identified as a key strategy for directing the differentiation of hiPSCs into NPCs by regulating specific cell signaling pathways. However, conventional culture methods are time-consuming and exhibit low differentiation efficiency in neural differentiation.

This study explored a novel modification method for porous polyetheretherketone (PEEK) implants using a biomimetic coating to achieve synergistic enhancement of vascularization and bone regeneration. Inspired by the natural extracellular matrix (ECM) structure (consists of growth factors and matrix proteins), a biomimetic dual-factor coating capable of releasing bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) and fibronectin (FN) was coated on the surface of 3D-printed porous PEEK scaffolds using polydopamine (PDA) as a binder. Experiments conducted with MC3T3-E1 cells or HUVECs in co-culture with scaffolds revealed that the biomimetic coating not only synergically promoted cell migration, adhesion and proliferation, but also enhanced angiogenesis and osteogenic differentiation simultaneously in vivo.
