Objectives: To determine senior medical students' exposure to lectures and clinical experiences on emergency contraception (EC).
Methods: Ninety third-year medical students at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) were surveyed at the end of a year of clinical clerkship. The survey assessed exposure to contraception, EC, and other reproductive health experiences over the preceding 3 years of medical training, as well as personal opinions about the availability of family planning services. Survey data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 10.0) software.
Results: Seventy-three medical students (47% female) completed the questionnaire, giving a response rate of 81.1%. Classroom teaching of EC was reported by 71.2% of the cohort. Only 16.9% had counselled women about EC themselves; 33.8% had not been exposed to it at all in a clinical setting. A majority of students (92.5%) stated they would provide services for contraception, but only 7.5% felt such issues were well addressed in the undergraduate medical program.
Conclusion: Undergraduate medical trainees at UWO perceive that the subject of contraception in general and EC in particular are not well addressed.

Background/aim: Psychotherapy training for medical students and residents in China is still in development. To establish an appropriate training program, understanding medical students' and residents' current knowledge and attitudes toward psychotherapy is needed.
Methods: One hundred and forty-nine participants, including medical students, residents, and other health providers (HCPs), self-reported their understanding of 18 types of psychotherapy, negative attitude towards cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and their attitude towards psychological interventions and counseling in primary care (APIC-PC) through an online survey.

Background: Programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression on immune cells is correlated with the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy in various types of cancer. Platelets are important components of the tumour microenvironment (TME) and are widely involved in the development of many types of cancer including colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the role of PD-L1 positive platelets in ICI therapy for CRC remains unknown.

Background: Self-Directed Learning (SDL) is a theory of andragogy in which adult learners take their own initiative to identify and tailor their individual learning process and outcomes. In undergraduate medical education, SDL aims to develop medical students into lifelong learners. This study aims to estimate the overall effectiveness of self-directed learning compared to traditional didactic learning (TDL).

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape education, concerns about the authenticity of student work have escalated, particularly in relation to written assignments influenced by AI-powered tools. This paper explores the role of the oral examination as a valuable method for assessing true student understanding and considers its potential for broader use across various educational levels. We propose that oral exams could be effectively integrated into undergraduate courses, providing a means to verify student comprehension in an era of AI-generated content.
