A characteristic hand friction burn secondary to a treadmill fitness machine has been seen in fourteen pediatric patients. This retrospective review looks at mechanism of injury, digit(s) involved, depth of burn, initial treatment, time to referral and its effect on the final result, and the need and results of definitive treatment. Based on our findings, certain recommendations are made to avoid potential sequela due to this hand friction burn.

Background: Tendon repairs often result in adhesion formation which can cause persisting functional deficits. Close proximity of healing tissues increases friction during tendon excursion, often leading to tendon tethering postoperatively. This study aimed to determine optimal washing and drying methods for maintaining the functionality of silver-coated conductive knitted fabrics, commonly used in wearable smart products. By investigating changes in the physical, chemical, and electrical properties of these fabrics under various care conditions, we sought to provide recommendations for their proper maintenance. Results showed that mechanical friction during washing, combined with the chemical effect of detergent and the effects of machine drying, led to peeling and oxidation of the silver layer, resulting in changes to the fabric's appearance, color and increased surface resistance.

Background Pronator quadratus (PQ) acts as the pronator of the wrist and stabiliser of the distal radioulnar joint; it also provides a protective cover over the edge of the plate, preventing friction and subsequent rupture of flexor tendons. The repair of PQ is often difficult, and its durability is questionable; hence, preserving the PQ while volar plating distal radius fractures is advocated. Methods In this prospective randomised trial, 60 patients with a fracture of the distal end of the radius of AO-type (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen) 23 A2, A3, B1, B3, C1, and C2 were treated with volar plate fixation using either the PQ-releasing and repair approach (Group A, n = 30) or the PQ-sparing approach (Group B, n = 30), allowed by simple randomisation.
