Evaluating the risk of mild serotonin syndrome in primary care: a retrospective case series of patients with treatment-resistant depression.

Background: Serotonin syndrome is an adverse drug reaction characterised by the excess of serotonin activity in the central nervous system. It is a condition of great concern in primary care where some patients, usually with treatment-resistant depression, get treatment with multiple serotonergic agents.
Case Description: This retrospective case series looked at 20 primary care patients with treatment-resistant depression who developed mild serotonin syndrome after starting a second antidepressant.

Background: Worldwide, hospitals are responsible for restoring health. Background: Patient-reported penicillin allergies are frequently encountered in the emergency department (ED), which often lead to non-beta-lactam antibiotic use despite beta-lactams' place as first-line therapy in most bacterial infections. The PEN-FAST clinical decision tool was developed and validated to identify patients with a low risk of true penicillin allergies that do not require formal skin testing for rechallenging. The tool consists of four questions that add up to a total score ranging from 0 to 5.

This study aims to improve the quality of clinical treatment and nursing care to standardize perioperative management for patients with liver tumors undergoing co-ablation system therapy. The Committee of Ablation Therapy in Oncology, China Anti-Cancer Association; the Expert Committee on Ablation Therapy; Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO); and the Committee of Interventional, Perioperative, and Interventional Physician Branch of Chinese Medical Doctors Association organized medical and nursing experts in China. Based on the clinical practice of co-ablation system therapy in China and relevant domestic literature, an expert consensus about perioperative management was developed.
