AI Article Synopsis

  • Evaluated transcatheter embolization in 60 patients for bleeding control related to bladder and uterine neoplasms, achieving complete control in 95% of cases.
  • Complications arose in 5% of the patients, indicating a low risk associated with the procedure.
  • Hemorrhage recurred in 22% of patients within 6 months, with the recurrence rate linked to the selectivity of embolization (14% for selective vs. 60% for proximal).

Article Abstract

We evaluated effectiveness of transcatheter embolization for control of bleeding complicating bladder and uterine neoplasms in 60 patients. Post embolization, bleeding was completely controlled in 95% patients. Complications occurred in 5% of cases. Within 6 months interval haemorrhage recurred in 22% after embolization and its rate depended on selectivity of the procedure (14% vs 60% for proximal embolization). Arterial embolization is safe and effective for control of bleeding from bladder and uterine cancer.
