Background: With the advances in the adhesive science, several conservative treatment options such as non-retentive overlays have been suggested for endodontically treated posterior teeth. However, information is scarce regarding the fracture strength and adaptation of non-retentive overlays compared with endocrowns, and the effect of material type in this respect. Thus, this study aimed to assess the fracture strength and internal and marginal adaptation of lithium disilicate (LDS) and hybrid ceramic endocrowns and non-retentive overlays for endodontically treated molar teeth.

The extremely rapid development of understanding and technology that led to the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted from collaborative efforts in the fields of (SARS-CoV-2) biology, pharmacology, vaccinology, and medicine. Perhaps surprisingly, much of the research was conducted using simple and efficient yeast models. In this manuscript, we describe how yeast, eukaryotic microorganisms, have been used to research this global challenge, focusing on the therapeutic potential of the studies discussed herein.

Light-controlled transcriptional activation is a commonly used optogenetic strategy that allows researchers to regulate gene expression with high spatiotemporal precision. The vast majority of existing tools are, however, limited to light-triggered induction of gene expression. Here, we inverted this mode of action and created optogenetic systems capable of efficiently terminating transcriptional activation in response to blue light.

Background: A sustainable pandemic preparedness strategy is essential to ensure equitable access to healthcare for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. Moreover, it is vital to provide clinicians and researchers in the neurodegenerative disease fields with resources and infrastructure to ensure continuity of their work during a (health) crisis.
Methods: We established an international collaboration between researchers, clinicians, and patient representatives from the Netherlands, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
