Two fluorescent adenosine derivatives (5 and 7) (Sch. 1) and two 6-amino-9-ethylpurine derivatives (6 and 8) (Sch. 1), were synthesised using 2-chloropropanal and 3-chloropropyne as reagents. The structures of the products were determined by spectroscopic and spectrometric methods (1H-, 13C- and 2D NMR, MS, UV and fluorescence spectrometry). Their fluorescence properties were determined and found to be similar to those of ethenoadenosine. Also, the stabilites of 5 and 7 in aqueous solutions were determined and found to be higher than that of the etheno derivative of adenosine.

Objective: This research investigated the possible shielding properties of BB (Berberrubine) against the harmful auditory effects of cisplatin, preliminarily delving into the underlying mechanisms responsible for this protection.
Methods: HEI-OC1 cell viability was determined using a Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8). The impact of BB on cochlear hair cells was studied through cochlear explants culture.
This study presents the characterization of a novel multilayered three-dimensional (3D) polymer exhibiting aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties when excited at a low wavelength of 280 nm. Utilizing fluorescence spectroscopy, we demonstrate that the polymer displays a marked enhancement in luminescence upon aggregation, a characteristic behavior that distinguishes AIE-active materials from conventional fluorophores. Furthermore, we explore the potential application of this multilayered 3D polymer as a fluorescent probe for the selective detection of specified metal ions.

This study focused on the effect of ultrasound-assisted immersion freezing (UIF) with different ultrasound power (200, 400, 600 W) on the physicochemical and digestive properties of beef myofibrillar proteins (BMP). The results showed that the solubility and thermal stability of BMP were significantly increased, when treated with 400 W ultrasound, and the α-helix, β-sheets, β-turns, and random-coil fractions structures content were higher and the fluorescence intensity was closest to that of the control group, demonstrating enhanced structural stability of BMP. The protein digestibility of the UIF-400 W group was significantly enhanced while the particle size of the digested product was reduced, which proved its enhanced digestion characteristics.

Developing scaffolds supporting functional cell attachment and tissue growth is critical in basic cell research, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine approaches. Though poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and its derivatives are attractive for hydrogels and scaffold fabrication, they often require bioactive modifications due to their bioinert nature. In this work, biomimetic synthesized conductive polypyrrole-poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) copolymer doped with poly(styrenesulfonate) (PPy-PEDOT:PSS) was used as a biocompatible coating for poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) hydrogel to support neuronal and muscle cells' attachment, activity, and differentiation.

Effects of enzymolysis by seven proteases (Alcalase, Bromelain, Flavourzyme, Papain, Pepsin, Protamex, and Trypsin) with distinct cleavage specificities on the emulsification performance of hempseed protein (HPI) and its correlation with the structural and interfacial characteristics were explored in this study. Upon enzymolysis, a remarkable decrease in α-helix and β-turn was observed in resultant hydrolysates (HPH), accompanied by a rise in β-sheet and random coil, notably by Alcalase, Bromelain, Papain, and Trypsin. Overall, proteolysis led to noticeable reductions in surface hydrophobicity and total sulfhydryls as well as a redshift in intrinsic fluorescence, with Papain showing the most pronounced effects, possibly due to its higher hydrolysis degree (4.
