This paper addresses the application of new adhesive technologies to dentistry. The bonding of synthetic polymers to dentin is difficult and it has taken a long time to produce reliable methods. Success has been achieved suing a 4-methacryloyloxyethyltrimellitate anhydride/methyl methacrylate-tri-n-butyl borane system which allows the generation of a layer of hybridised dentin. This provides a pseudo-wound-healing layer that resists demineralisation and degradation, is impermeable and inhibits secondary caries and hypersensitivity.

Addressing the high cost and long cycle associated with the multistep digital restoration process involving 3D printing technology, we proposed the 3D pen as an innovative strategy for rapid bone repair. Capitalizing on the low melting point characteristic of polycaprolactone (PCL), we introduced, for the first time, the novel concept of directly constructing scaffolds at bone defect sites using 3D pens. In this in vitro study, we meticulously evaluated both the mechanical and biological properties of 3D pen-printed PCL scaffolds with six distinct textures: unidirectional (UNI) (0°, 45°, 90°), bidirectional (BID) (-45°/45°, 0°/90°), and concentric (CON).

As a marker of human metabolism, acetone is important for lipid metabolism monitoring and early detection of diabetes. In this study, we developed a handheld biosensor for acetone based on fluorescence detection by utilizing the enzymatic reaction of secondary alcohol dehydrogenase (S-ADH) with β-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH, = 340 nm, = 490 nm). In the reaction, NADH is oxidized when acetone is reduced to 2-propanol by S-ADH, and the acetone concentration can be measured by detecting the amount of NADH consumed in this reaction.

Root caries present a significant challenge in dentistry. The unsatisfactory prognosis of restorative treatments requires novel, noninvasive preventive strategies. Here, we developed an amelogenin-derived peptide-modified poly(amidoamine), PAMAM-C11, to prevent demineralization in caries lesions and control periodontal destruction.

Expert consensus on apical microsurgery.

Apical microsurgery is accurate and minimally invasive, produces few complications, and has a success rate of more than 90%. However, due to the lack of awareness and understanding of apical microsurgery by dental general practitioners and even endodontists, many clinical problems remain to be overcome. The consensus has gathered well-known domestic experts to hold a series of special discussions and reached the consensus.

In light of the lack of reliable molecular markers for odontogenic myxoma (OM), the detection of copy number variation (CNV) may present a more objective method for assessing ambiguous cases. In this study, we employed multiregional microdissection sequencing to integrate morphological features with genomic profiling. This allowed us to reveal the CNV profiles of OM and compare them with dental papilla (DP), dental follicle (DF), and odontogenic fibroma (OF) tissues.
