To maintain a harmonious craniofacial system, the dental practitioner must establish an appropriate occlusal vertical dimension (OVD). Several methods can be used to determine an appropriate OVD. The patient presenting with decreased OVD represents a particular challenge for the dental practitioner in fabricating conventional dentures. This clinical report describes the use of a diagnostic treatment prosthesis to evaluate the patient's ability to manage such an increase in vertical dimension and to reestablish an appropriate occlusal vertical dimension. The use of a diagnostic treatment prosthesis at a vertical dimension 5 mm greater than what the patient presented with was determined to not cause discomfort over a 2-month period. A conventional complete denture was fabricated based on the patient's ability to handle the increase during the trial period. This report reviews the literature on this topic and describes a clinical technique for reestablishing the OVD in edentulous patients.

Recent studies have identified microneedle (MN) arrays as promising alternatives for transdermal drug delivery. This study investigated the properties of novel staggered MN arrays design featuring two distinct heights of MNs. The staggered MN arrays were precisely fabricated via PμSL light-cured 3D printing technology.

Background: Virtual surgical planning for orthognathic surgery typically relies on two methods for intraoperative plan transfer: CAD/CAM occlusal splints and patient-specific implants (PSI). While CAD/CAM splints may offer limited accuracy, particularly in the vertical dimension, PSIs are constrained by higher costs and extended preparation times. Surgical navigation has emerged as a potential alternative, but existing protocols often involve invasive registration or lack transparent evaluation.

Here we report four experiments that explore the nature of perceptual averaging. We examine the evidence that participants recover and store a representation of the mean value of a set of perceptual features that are distributed across the optic array. The extant evidence shows that participants are particularly accurate in estimating the relevant mean value, but we ask whether this might be due to processes that reflect assessing featural similarity rather than computing an average.

: The objectives of this study were to evaluate the structural and functional outcomes after the loading phase with brolucizumab in switched patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) and to identify potential predictive biomarkers of treatment response. : A total of 28 eyes with DME, switched to brolucizumab, were retrospectively reviewed. Main outcomes during the follow-up period, up to 6 weeks after the fifth injection, included changes in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central subfield thickness (CST), macular volume, subfoveal choroidal thickness, intraretinal and subretinal fluid (IRF and SRF), cyst dimension including maximal horizontal cyst diameter (MHCD), maximal vertical cyst diameter (MVCD), width-to-height ratio (WHR), foveal avascular zone (FAZ) dimension, and vessel density (VD).

Prosthetic rehabilitation in multifaceted dental abnormality needs sequential planning to ensure adaptation of oral and associated musculature. Reduction of tooth structure before adaptation of oral and associated components may complicate the treatment modality if compliance of the musculature is poor. Hence, the fabrication of over-provisional in esthetic rehabilitation enables to assess of the success of the treatment plan preoperatively before invasive trials.
