This paper is one in a series from the American Society of Nutritional Sciences Long Range Planning Committee, in which we are attempting to map out the implications of future directions in nutritional sciences for ASNS. Here, we address the area of social nutrition research and identify a series of orientations that are now emerging and likely to shape future research in this area. As with other areas of nutrition, a key feature is the importance of an integrated approach, both across social science disciplines and between social and biological scientists.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the preliminary effectiveness of an electronic pill bottle with automated reminders on hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) adherence in children with pediatric systemic lupus erythematosus (pSLE).
Methods: This was a self-controlled, open label, direct-to-family pilot trial. Children with pSLE treated with HCQ were recruited from the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry.

With the rapid development of nanotechnology, nanoultrasonography has emerged as a promising medical imaging technique that demonstrates significant potential in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) diseases. This review discusses the applications of nanoultrasonography in the gastrointestinal field, including improvements in imaging resolution, diagnostic accuracy, latest research findings, and prospects for clinical application. By analyzing existing literature, we explore the role of nanoultrasonography in enhancing imaging resolution, enabling targeted drug delivery, and improving therapeutic outcomes, thereby providing a reference for future research directions.

Introduction: Opium and cigarette smoking have been identified as significant cancer risk factors. Recently, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified opium as a Group 1 carcinogen in 2020.
Method: Using data from a multicenter case-control study in Iran called IROPICAN, involving 717 cases of bladder cancer and 3477 controls, we assessed the interactions on the causal additive scale between opium use and cigarette smoking and their attributing effects to evaluate public health relevance and test for different mechanistic interaction forms to provide new insights for developing of bladder cancer.

Sialyltransferases (ST) are key enzymes found in, among others, mammals and bacteria that are responsible for producing sialylated glycans, which play critical roles in human health and disease. However, chemical tools to study sialyltransferases have been limited to non-covalent inhibitors and probes that do not allow isolation and profiling of these important enzymes. Here we report a new class of covalent affinity-based probes (AfBP) for ST by using ligand-directed chemistry (LDchem).
