To assess neuromotor disorders clinicians often rely on rating scales. Unfortunately, these scales lack the sensitivity and accuracy needed to detect the small changes in motor coordination that reflect the clinical progression of the disease on the basis of which treatment programmes can be adjusted. As a contribution to this topic, the present paper proposes a straightforward kinematic and kinetic analysis of reaching movements of patients with cerebellar ataxia in conjunction with a cybernetic interpretation of the data. The aim of the approach is to capture key deficits in the underlying motor control processes. We suggest that cerebellar ataxia may be characterized by defective feedforward control.

Widespread white matter (WM) microstructural abnormalities have been reported in patients with spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), whereas the ability of DTI to detect WM degeneration over short-term period remains insufficiently explored. Additionally, WM dysfunction remains entirely unknown in this disease. This study aims to investigate WM structural and functional alterations in SCA3, and provide promising progression biomarkers for short-term clinical trials.

Here we presented a rare case of Lafora disease with neuropathy, ataxia and progression of symptoms into type one DM, GTCS and myoclonus during years. Dentatorubral-Pallidoluysian Atrophy (DRPLA) is a rare autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder caused by CAG repeat expansion in the ATN1 gene, characterized by diverse neurological and psychiatric symptoms. We report a 23-year-old patient with juvenile-onset seizures, cognitive decline, and ataxia, progressing to psychosis by age 31. Initial brain MRI showed minimal cerebellar atrophy, with prominent atrophy evident on follow-up imaging.

Paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration (PCD) with anti-Yo antibodies represents a rare immune-mediated paraneoplastic neurological syndrome. Its diagnosis and management remain clinically challenging. Here, we present a case of PCD with confirmed anti-Yo antibodies, validated through anti-cerebellar degeneration protein 2 (CDR2) and anti-CDR2-like antibodies detection, which demonstrated a favorable response to ofatumumab therapy.
