Background: SERPINB2, a biomarker of Type-2 (T2) inflammatory processes, has been described in the context of asthma. Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is also correlated with T2 inflammation and elevated 15LO1 induced by IL-4/13 in nasal epithelial cells. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression and location of SERPINB2 in nasal epithelial cells (NECs) and determine whether SERPINB2 regulates 15LO1 and downstream T2 markers in NECs via STAT6 signalling.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder associated with α-synuclein aggregation and dopaminergic neuron loss in the midbrain. There is evidence that psychological stress promotes PD progression by enhancing glucocorticoids-related oxidative damage, however, the mechanisms involved are unknown. The present study demonstrated that plasma membrane phospholipid peroxides, as determined by phospholipidomics, triggered ferroptosis in dopaminergic neurons, which in turn contributed to stress exacerbated PD-like motor disorder in mice overexpressing mutant human α-synuclein.

Introduction: Prostate cancer is the second most prevalent cancer among men. Despite different treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormone therapy and immunotherapy for this disease, patients ultimately progress to advanced states. Thus, there is a need for new treatment options targeting cell growth and apoptosis to better control the proliferation and metastasis of these cells.

Arachidonic acid lipoxygenases (ALOX) have been implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory, hyperproliferative, neurodegenerative, and metabolic diseases, but the physiological function of ALOX15 still remains a matter of discussion. To contribute to this discussion, we created transgenic mice (aP2-ALOX15 mice) expressing human ALOX15 under the control of the aP2 (adipocyte fatty acid binding protein 2) promoter, which directs expression of the transgene to mesenchymal cells. Fluorescence in situ hybridization and whole-genome sequencing indicated transgene insertion into the E1-2 region of chromosome 2.

To rigorously explore the role of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), we have created a transgenic mouse utilizing a Cre-lox promoter to control overexpression of human 15-lipoxygenase-1 (15-LOX-1). In this study, we sought to determine the effect of treating type 2 diabetic wild-type mice and transgenic mice ubiquitously overexpressing 15-LOX-1 with menhaden oil on endpoints related to DPN. Wild-type and transgenic mice on a C57Bl/6J background were divided into three groups.
