Article Abstract

In order to predict and improve the performance of natural gas/diesel dual fuel engine (DFE), a combustion rate model based on forward neural network was built to study the combustion process of the DFE. The effect of the operating parameters on combustion rate was also studied by means of this model. The study showed that the predicted results were good agreement with the experimental data. It was proved that the developed combustion rate model could be used to successfully predict and optimize the combustion process of dual fuel engine.

According to the physical characteristics of cotton and the work characteristics of cotton pickers in the field, during the picking process, there is a risk of cotton combustion. The cotton picker working environment is complex, cotton ignition can be hidden, and fire is difficult to detect. Therefore, in this study, we designed an improved algorithm for multi-sensor data fusion; built a cotton picker fire detection system by using infrared temperature sensors, CO sensors, and the upper computer; and proposed a BP neural network model based on improved mutation operator hybrid gray wolf optimizer and particle swarm optimization (MGWO-PSO) algorithm based on the BP neural network model.

In the present work, we performed calculations of the kinetic isotope effect (KIE) on H/D, N/N, O/O, and C/C isotopic substitution in the dissociation of beta-sheet polyglycine dimers of different lengths into two monomer chains. This dissociation reaction, proceeding via breaking of the interchain hydrogen bonds (H-bonds), is considered to be a model of unfolding of the secondary structure of proteins. The calculated strengthening of the interchain hydrogen bonds N-H⋯O=C due to heavy isotope substitution decreases in the row H/D >> N/N > O/O > C/C.

In this study, the effect of additives on particulate matter (PM) and flue gas emissions during the co-combustion of poultry waste and pine woodchips in air and oxy-fuel combustion conditions was examined. The appropriate additive for the fuel mixture to reduce PM emissions has been selected by a fast screening method based on thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) in oxygen environment. Among the additives CaHPO, MgCO, MnCO, MgPO, kaolin, CaO, and Zn, the most suitable ones were determined as Zn and MgCO.

The source of nitrous acid (HONO) and its importance in island or marine environments are poorly understood. Herein, based on comprehensive field measurements at a hilltop on Corsica Island, we find an inverse diel variation of HONO with higher concentrations during daytime. Night-time HONO budget analysis indicates significant HONO formation during air mass transport along the hillside.

The development of cellulose fabrics with good flame retardancy and durability has been a primary concern for in firefighting clothing. A recyclable ternary deep eutectic solvent (TDES) was used to prepare surface ammonium phosphate-modified cellulose fabrics (SACF). The incorporation of ammonium phosphate groups notably enhanced the durable flame retardancy of cellulose fabrics.
