Sensitivity encoding (SENSE) uses multiple MRI receive coil elements to encode spatial information in addition to traditional gradient encoding. Requiring less gradient encodings translates into shorter scan times, which is extremely beneficial in many clinical applications. SENSE is available to routine diagnostic imaging for the past 2 years. This paper highlights the use of SENSE with scan time reduction factors up to 6 in contrast-enhanced MRA, routine abdominal imaging, mammography, cardiac and neuro imaging. It is shown that SENSE has opened new horizons in both routine and advanced MR imaging.

Pain is a frequent and disturbing symptom among hemodialysis patients. Protein-bound uremic toxins (PBUTs) are related to cardiovascular and overall mortality, and they are difficult to remove with current hemodialysis treatments. The PBUT displacers, such as furosemide, tryptophan, or ibuprofen, may be promising new strategies for improving their clearance.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is a powerful optical sensing platform that amplifies the target signals by Raman scattering. Despite SERS enabling a meager detection limit, even at the single-molecule level, SERS also tends to equally enhance unwanted molecules due to the non-specific binding of noise molecules in clinical samples, which complicates its use in complex samples such as bodily fluids, environmental water, or food matrices. To address this, we developed a novel non-fouling biomimetic SERS sensor by self-assembling an anti-adhesive, anti-fouling, and size-selective Lubricin (LUB) coating on gold nanoparticle (AuNP) functionalized glass slide surfaces via a simple drop-casting method.

They can be continuously monitored through contact or contactless measurements performed in the home or a hospital. In this study, a contactless Doppler radar W-band sensing system was used for short-range, contactless vital sign estimation.

Improper use and harmful effects of nitrite ions pose a significant risk to human health. To address this concern, the use of carbon-based materials for electrochemical sensing is regarded as one of the most promising detection tools for ensuring the quality of drinking water and food products. In this context, we developed laser-ablated graphene electrodes (LAGEs) by direct laser scribing on a polyimide substrate, which were subsequently modified by electrochemical deposition of a redox-active melanin-like film (MeLF/LAGEs).

Importance: Because of the complexity of their child's diabetes management, parents often assume all care duties and report needing additional assistance to resume family routines.
Objective: To examine the preliminary efficacy of a telehealth occupation-based coaching intervention for rural parents of a child living with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) to improve child glycemic levels, family quality of life, and parental self-efficacy.
Design: Double-blinded, two-arm, pilot randomized controlled trial.
