Background: Syndromic surveillance systems are crucial for the monitoring of population health and the early detection of emerging health problems. Internationally, there are numerous established systems reporting on different types of data. In the Netherlands, the Nivel syndromic surveillance system provides real-time monitoring on all diseases and symptoms presented in general practice.

Detoxifying reactive oxygen species (ROS) that accumulate under saline conditions is crucial for plant salt tolerance. The Salt Overly Sensitive (SOS) pathway functions upstream, while flavonoids act downstream, in ROS scavenging under salt stress. However, the potential crosstalk between the SOS pathway and flavonoids in regulating salt stress responses and the associated mechanisms remain largely unexplored.

Aging and neurodegeneration: when systemic dysregulations affect brain macrophage heterogeneity.

Microglia, the major population of brain resident macrophages, differentiate from yolk sac progenitors in the embryo and play multiple nonimmune roles in brain organization throughout development and life. Various microglia subtypes have been described by transcriptomic and proteomic signatures, involved metabolic pathways, morphology, intracellular complexity, time of residency, and ontogeny, both in development and in disease settings. Such macrophage heterogeneity increases with aging or neurodegeneration.

African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a large DNA virus of the Asfarviridae family that causes a fatal hemorrhagic disease in domestic swine and wild boar. Infections with moderately virulent strains predominantly result in a milder clinical course and lower lethality. As target cells of ASFV, monocytes play a crucial role in triggering T-cell-mediated immune defense and ASF pathogenesis.

Biological aggregates play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of thrombotic diseases, especially thrombin-induced biological aggregates. Therefore, the efficient discovery of thrombin inhibitors is of great significance for the prevention and treatment of thrombotic diseases. In this study, the aggregation precursor protein fluorescent probe was successfully prepared for monitoring the production of biological aggregates induced by thrombin.
