This article describes the extension of a shortened dental arch with a cantilever fixed partial denture in a patient who refused to be treated with an implant-supported and retained prosthesis. Orthodontic movement of the distal abutment to enlarge the interabutment span was performed before the final restoration. The mechanical advantage of the enlarged span in a cantilever fixed partial denture is analyzed, discussed, and demonstrated by 2-dimensional static analysis.

Objective: To investigate the impact of multidisciplinary team (MDT) intervention for early mobilization (EM) of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Methods: A retrospective uncontrolled before-after observational study was conducted to assess patient outcomes before and after introducing MDT in the stroke care unit (SCU). Participants admitted to the SCU from April 2017 to September 2023 were categorized into conventional (April 2017 to June 2020) and MDT (July 2020 to September 2023) groups.

It is not uncommon for individuals receiving radiotherapy for head and cancers to experience dry mouth sensation (xerostomia), salivary hypofunction (hyposalivation) and taste changes. The present study aimed to evaluate the short-term effectiveness of biweekly photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) in managing these radiotherapy-induced adverse effects and its impact on oral health-related quality of life. Ten patients who developed xerostomia and hyposalivation secondary to radiotherapy for head and neck cancer were included.

Optimal results in complex nasal reconstruction, particularly in the context of post-traumatic and revision septorhinoplasty, often require the use of cartilage grafts to provide additional structural support to the nose. While autologous costal cartilage (ACC) has been traditionally used, this can be limited by donor site morbidity, increased operative time, and in some cases, lack of suitable cartilage for grafting. There has been a trend towards using irradiated homologous costal cartilage (IHCC) as an alternative source of graft material.

Introduction: Telomeres are nucleotide sequences found at the end of chromosomes, and their shortening is associated with chronological and biological ageing, oxidative stress and malnutrition. Shorter telomeres have been shown to be associated with periodontitis. Dietary nutrients are also influential factors in the aetiology and progression of periodontitis and other chronic inflammatory diseases.
