Background: Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) following lung transplantation (LTx) is a rare but severe complication. The pathogenesis is poorly understood, and various risk factors have been suggested. In this study, we aimed to evaluate diagnostic accuracy, identify risk factors, and assess renal, pulmonary, and overall survival of TMA in this patient group.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a life-threatening condition triggered by pneumonia, viral infections, or physical trauma. It manifests clinically as progressive respiratory failure and refractory hypoxemia. Using a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury mouse model, we demonstrated that amniotic mesenchymal stem cells (AMSCs) exhibit robust reparative and anti-inflammatory properties.

: Pneumonitis caused by radiotherapy for lung cancer may be missed since it often occurs only several months later. In a previous trial including patients of any age, a scoring system was tested to facilitate the correct diagnosis of radiation pneumonitis. Since elderly lung cancer patients have a greater risk of developing this complication, a separate scoring system for this group appears useful.

While immunotherapy has shown some efficacy in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients, many respond only partially or not at all. One limitation in improving outcomes is the lack of a complete understanding of immune checkpoint regulation. Here, we investigated a possible link between an environmental chemical receptor implicated in lung cancer and immune regulation, the AhR, a known but counterintuitive mediator of immunosuppression (interferon (IFN)-γ), and regulation of two immune checkpoints (PD-L1 and IDO).
