The hydrated electron, e, is a potent reducing agent and a prototypical quantum solute. Reactions of e often involve a contact pair comprised of a molecule and electron that are hydrated within a single sphere. However, a molecular-level understanding of the solvent-driven coordinate that links the contact pair to the free dissociated e remains elusive.

Protein degradation orchestrated by SKP1·CUL1·F-box protein (SCF) ubiquitin ligases is a fundamental process essential for cellular and organismal function. The dynamic assembly of SCFs, facilitated by CAND1, ensures timely ubiquitination of diverse SCF target proteins. As a homolog of CAND1, CAND2 alone has been implicated in various human diseases, yet its functional mechanisms remain elusive.

Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia, share significant genetic, epigenetic, and phenotypic overlap, manifesting as dimensional psychopathology and convergent neuroimaging findings. These shared features have led to various models exploring common underlying pathophysiological mechanisms, including excitatory-inhibitory imbalance, the triple network model, network analysis, and social disconnection. While these models offer valuable insights, a unifying framework remains elusive.

Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition of the terminal hair follicle, which can present in sporadic, familial, or syndromic forms. The exact pathogenesis of HS remains elusive, posing a challenge for the development of effective treatments. Among the various immunological mechanisms, the NLRP3 inflammasome is thought to contribute to the pathogenesis of HS, releasing cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-18 which initiates and exacerbates inflammation.

An elusive short-lived mixed dihalide radical anion (BrCl·-), produced in water by radiation-induced reactions, has been observed and analyzed by time-resolved resonance Raman spectroscopy (TRRR) and density functional theory. The Raman spectrum of the radical consists of a prominently enhanced stretching vibration, represented by a band at 212 cm-1 and its overtones. Calculations by range-separated hybrid density functionals (ωB97x and LC-ωPBE) reproduce the experimental vibrational frequency well, with a corresponding bond length of 2.
